I decided to say 'fuck it' and do Yuletide this year. I was appalled to realize that the last time I participated was 2003! And I have about five days free in december to write the fic, so it should turn out fine. Turns out there's only one request I was given that I can fufill, but I adore it and I've already plotted out the entire thing, even if the time to reacquaint myself with the fandom and write the fic is not going to be available until after the 17th of december.

In other news, last week was so stressful and tiring, I ended up doing only 4hrs or so of work for the entire weekend. Instead, I went out with a friend to the somewhat far away bakery of amazingness and chocolate (we had swedish meat pies, and meatballs and princess cakes and chocolate peanut butter cheesecake...). We talked until they kicked us out, then I hit up the grocery store and fixed up a beef stew which I slow cooked all night. I feel so much better eating healthy food this week and damn is it tasty (I can never decide if I like the taste of the sweet potatoes in the stew, but bella mushrooms are awesome and I have no idea why none of the recipes add them). I also played civ 4 with my little bro for several hours. All in all, just the break I needed. Now, I just have to make my presentation for the conference I present at this weekend, survive my Korean midterm, and you know, read 1/2 a book, several articles, plus work on maps for cartography, and my job at the archaeochem lab which is my usual workload.

How to be Bilbo Baggins: A Guide to Dragon Taming and Dwarf Managing
Summary: Hobbiton is being plagued by dragons, and Bilbo has been nominated to go to the dwarves to learn to kill them. She didn't count on befriending one instead. Genderbend.
Notes: I may be writing this just as an excuse to rewatch How to Train Your Dragon over and over again.

Fandom: The Hobbit

Summary: Young Frodo Baggins is kidnapped from the Shire and his uncle sets out to find him. Meanwhile, Frodo is thrown in a cage with a familiar group of dwarves. Based loosely around the plot of Finding Nemo.
Notes: I really have to stop watching Pixar movies then writing fic... I'm writing the epilogue atm, so this should get posted fairly quickly.

It's complete! *does victory dance*

Summary: A Thor/Avengers/Lilo & Stich fusion with Loki as Stich and young Tony as Lilo.
Warning: This is a really happy, fluffy fic. I blame Disney.

Summary: A Thor/Avengers/Lilo & Stich fusion with Loki as Stich and young Tony as Lilo.

This chapter: Loki gets everyone in trouble. Namor gets angry. The dead return to life. Other than that, nothing much is happening.

This is Your Badness Level (AO3, ffnet) - A Thor/Avengers/Lilo &Stich fusion with Loki as Stich and young Tony as Lilo.
Chapter: 1 of 2
Rating: Gen
Warnings: Cameoes for all. (No, seriously. Everyone is in this fic. I keep making up silly origin stories for why they're all in Hawaii.) Namor. Namor's speedo. Giant frogs. kid!Thor. Disney flavoured sap.
Notes: All timelines have been seriously compromised or even disregarded in order to make this fic work. Everyone still has or will have their powers. I've kept mostly to the movieverse, but occasional references to the comicsverse and/or Norse myth have crept in. Next and final chapter should be finished next week.

Our shower curtain bit the dust. My dad and I spent a little bit extra to buy an appropriate replacement (as a rule, our shower curtains are never plain or boring). See? I like to imagine someday challenging my friends to a rousing game of Mornington Crescent in my bathroom;)

I didn't go to Bujinkan tonight because my whole upper torso, or at least my stomach, back and neck muscles are causing me a lot of pain. I think I pushed them further than they've ever gone before while doing the unusual rolling we did monday night at bujinkan (my body knew what to do, but it wasn't used to doing it, basically). I woke up an hour and a half early this morning when the pain relievers had worn off, and it took me nearly 45 minutes to get back to sleep since almost every position I easily fall asleep in was uncomfortable. Even with two ibuprofen in me, it still kills to move any of those muscles. I've also got my period. I only get it once every three months or so since I'm on birth control, so when I do get it, it tends to be very heavy (I haven't had chocolate since Christmas so that was nice at least). So, since my legs were the only part of me not hurting, I took a walk to satisfy my need to exercise and cheer me up. When I'm feeling down or hurting, I take a bit of glee out of taking a walk around our neighborhood cause I never fail to get honks, shouts and head turns from guys driving by. It's a nice ego boost, especially since I get the head turns when they see me from the front and when they see me from behind (I've got booty *L*). This time of the year is especially crazy cause guys are used to seeing women bundled up for winter. It was also just a beautiful day:)

All the muscle aches inspired me to write a short Chuck fic because it's been bothering me that Chuck doesn't seem sore or hurt after all his crazy new intersect 'kung fu'. So I wrote a gen, canon explanation and somehow ended up writing Chuck and Bryce in college *L*

Title: Old Aches (AO3 link, ff.net link)
Summary: Morgan asks Chuck a question that makes him remember something he’d forgotten about Bryce. Set near the end of 2x09.
Disclaimer: Chuck doesn’t belong to me. I make no money off of it. In fact, they make money off of me.
Word Count: 1,200

Uh, is this an academic article in Russian about fanfic? (If that link doesn't work, this will.) Cause my name and Uric the Oddball and the Wild Hunt is mentioned in it, and, well, that's really weird.

Also, it appears someone translated my Naruto fic, Better Late into Russian (scroll down), which brings the total fics I can find translated into Russian up to three. I find it amusing that they never bother to ask.

Title: Les Temps (alt link at ff.net)
Summary: Darius and Methos in Paris during Napoleon's time. Sequel to As the World.
Notes: Technically speaking this fic can be read without reading As the World first, but I recommend them both even if you read out of order. Every effort was made to keep this story historically accurate, but something might have slipped through for which I apologize. And no, I have no idea why I wrote a five page Highlander fic yesterday, but here it is.

I don't think I really realized how waiting for responses to query letters could give you a constant state of low level anticipation/anxiety. I know intellectually that'll it'll take weeks or months to get a response, but I still keep thinking I'll get one any minute now (yes, even though it's nearly 2am). I suspect when I get my first rejection letter, I'll be very happy *L*

I just finished tagging all of 2003 in my journal. I'd forgotten how many weird reviews I used to get (they've mostly settled down now). Also, I did a lot of quick quizzes back then.

Since my knee still wasn't healing after however I injured it in late September (I assume hiking on the trip), I went to physical therapy today. It was interesting. They put a cold compress on the knee and bombarded it with sonic stuff and shot it with lasers (I am totally not joking). I was also told to wear a knee brace while training and ice the damn thing while I drive home from said training. Dad had scheduled the appointment quite late, so as a result I missed Bujinkan. This wasn't a total bad thing since a) my knee was stiff from the scifi attack and b) I needed to go shopping for thanksgiving ingredients. My mum is doing the main meal (I requested turkey since I haven't had a proper thanksgiving in ages), but told my dad to handle the desert and salad. Dad, in turn (since I do the cooking in this house) handed these jobs over to me asking if I could recreate Outback's Blue Cheese Chopped Salad. A little research on the internet and I told him I could. The research also turned up a recipe for eggnog pumpkin pie which I was unable to resist the lure of trying to bake, so yes, I will be making my first pie ever on Thursday. Of course, we don't have a working oven here so I have to make it at Dad's then deliver it to Mum's for baking. Ah fun. (Just yesterday, I made dinner and out of the blue my Dad said, "You're a good cook. I didn't expect that." He didn't really have a reason why he thought that though.)

Fanfic wise, am reading through Code Geass stuff though I'm deliberately reading the bad/shorter stuff first so I have yet to judge if those fics that have passed the hundred review marks are any good. We shall see. I love that lots of people write AUs in this fandom at least. I'd like to see one where the Black Knights mmfph )

I tried playing Fallout 3 this evening. I feel really bad about not liking it much because the idea of so much freedom in a game is great. I loved all the options and the way you could build your character or influence the storyline - but I found the plot boring and fighting giant, irradiated cockroaches just isn't that much fun. Also, the whole game is kinda depressing.

Have about reached the point where I need to buckle in and seriously study for the GRE. Bah. I also have to write a Statement of Objectives for Hawaii. Evil. Also, two more query letters to send to finish off the first round. Nothing is ever easy.

Title: Here There Be Dragons
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Rating/warnings: G, gen, teamfic, set somewhere in season 2 or early season 3, not that it matters.
Summary: “There’s no such thing as magic,” said McKay.
Michail laughed. “Says the wizard.”
Disclaimer: SGA doesn't belong to me. If it did, there'd be a lot more logic.
