Silver and Gold, library, evening
I had a pretty easy day today - only two classes, so I spent most of my time writing the next chapter of Silver and Gold. Roughly two thirds of the chapter is now finished... of course, it's all the same scene with lots of fighting and blood and conversation (just the way I like my shonen *L*). I have two ways the next chapter/section can go and I can't decide which will benefit the story more since they both work so I'm just letting my brain write what it wants until I'm eventually committed to one way or another.
I visited the Ube library today since I was told there was a supply of English books there. I don't anticipate needing them for a long while (ze internet may be a time waster but it sure makes up for the need to haul hundreds of books with me everywhere), but I do need things to read when I've got an hour between classes or when I'm travelling (or bored). The selection was a bit weird. There was a lot of mysteries which don't rock my boat, an odd selection of classics (Sense and Sensibility but no Pride and Prejudice for instance) and other random books. I was very amused to see Tad William's Dragonbone Chair quartet there, mostly cause it's such a random choice if you were going to pick one fantasy series, but good for me if I ever work past my ennui to read the last book. What was really cool is that there were a lot of english language versions of Japanese classics, some of which I've heard of but were next to impossible to find in the US. I'm definately going to make an effort to read through those. I picked up one - Botchan, which is always promoted as the Japanese Catcher in the Rye. So far the first couple of pages have been great character development so I think I'll enjoy it.
Evening-wise, G.'s parents are over here so I went over her apartment for some Fillipino food (a first for me, but very good so long as I didn't think about the fact that I was eating fish skins) and we watched (more like mocked) Charlie's Angels. We watched Japanese tv for awhile too. I really love some of their commercials *L* Oh, and I saw the preview for Ghibli's Earthsea. It looks gorgeous, though I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was about *L*
