studying, accents, flapjacks

I am getting really sick of studying. All my enthusiasm is gone - not that I was that enthusiastic to begin with, but just sitting down to study last night made my eyes droop, so I went to bed early and now feel slightly more awake. *sigh*

To continue the random talk there's been of accents, I thought I should note that [livejournal.com profile] dizziebeth stopped me at the con and asked, "What's happened to your accent?" I stared at her and asked if she'd been reading lj, and she said no. Apparently, over the past few months, my accent took a serious, noticable turn toward British pronounciation. At least half of the words I say are no longer in an American accent. [livejournal.com profile] lucyjin concures. Now you must picture me blinking in bemusement and wondering why it took four years for this to suddenly happen.

In other news, Tesco's flapjacks are awesome. I still wish I could find the raspberry ones I ate in first year, but the uni store isn't stocking them anymore. It's a pity cause they made a great meal.

You may have a new accent, but at least you're still speaking English! I've started outright saying certain phrases in French and thinking many more. Haven't dreamt in French yet, however.

I bought a book on French culture. It says do not smile and do not make eye contact with strangers as they will take it as a come on. I thought of you and your stalkers. Heh. What fun, what fun I'll have (what with me already being stalker bait).

So that's what I was doing wrong! *sigh* I'd agree with that book if I didnt' know there were days when I wasn't smiling at all, nor making eye contact...

I say random phrases in french as well. 'Je ne sais pas' is my favourite it seems. I have had several dreams in french, including one wehre I was reading toys r us adverts in perfect french.
