I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

Wasn't really impressed with Dr. Who this evening. It was predictable, with very few good lines, and not very well thought out. I like to call this doctor 'the pragmatic one' in my mind, but he certainly wasn't in this episode. And the whole "he's not my boyfriend" thing is really beginning to annoy me. I feel like it's been said in every bloody episode at this point and I have to say they either better declare he's her boyfriend, or just shut up about the whole bloody issue... It's like the shows being written by rabid shippers or something. Gah.

You can tell I'm a gen fan, can't you?:P Other than that, it was just kinda boring. I feel no urge to rewatch it, or even screencap it. Next episode is back in London again. I wonder if they'll get around to visiting another planet this season.

After untold levels of craftiness today, I managed to get the book I need out of the reserve until 1:30pm tomorrow. Yes, that really was the highlight of my day.

Back to studying...

With his thoughts, with his emotions, he could express what could not be said in words; his own desperate longing to know the father he had idolised from childhood, the simple and accepting knowledge of who and what Vader had become, the quiet, fierce hope.

“Father…” he whispered, feeling the indecision and longing of his father. “He has had you so long. He took you from me, from us. I never knew what happened and now, you will let him take you from me again…”

The heavy, helmetted head shook slowly from side to side.

“Please, father,” he implored.

The indecision was building with his every word, one hand haltingly touching Vader’s arm. Even that simple gesture drew a sharp jolt of terrified awe from Vader, so vast and so unafraid, yet now petrified by a simple touch in love.

He could be brought back, saved, but not here. It was this place that held his father, the Empire, this prison which his life had become. He was surrounded on all sides by more than just physical barriers, the Emperor’s unseen presence pervading the very air around them.

If he was beyond it, if he was physically freed from it, perhaps, he could allow himself to break from the bonds that held him.

Away from here.

The young Jedi stared up at his father. “Come with me,” he repeated, imploringly, stretching out with his mind, though his focus remained wrapped around his father.

Behind him, he had felt the return of the Storm Troopers a moment before the doors hissed open. Without looking away from the dark figure of Vader, his hand leapt up, a blaster whipping from the hand of one of the soldiers and into his grip.

A sharp blast blew through the portals of the landing bay, the plastiglass melting then shattering as Luke’s body impacted with it. He tumbled in a perfect arc, then landed lightly on his feet on the springy grass twenty feet below.

His head whipped around and he stared up at Vader.

Come with me, father!

A sizzle of ozone burned passed his ear and he leapt back a step with a nod to the huge figure silhouetted in the window, letting his father feel everything he was feeling; love, hope, fear, longing. He felt the emotional wave echo from Vader, a sudden blaze of clear awareness, felt the grin cross his own lips and started to run, darting this way and that, disappearing into the woods.

the whole "he's not my boyfriend" thing is really beginning to annoy me.

Oh, hell, yes! If Who must be spoilt by canon shippage (which IMHO it is) RTD could at least have the decency to do it properly, damnit, and admit it!

You can tell I'm a gen fan, can't you? :P

I'm really not in most fandoms but he's Doctor bloody Who! It feels *so* out of place.

Umm... /rant. Sorry. And hello, btw... *waves* [livejournal.com profile] fiatincantatum pointed me in this direction :)

Randomly, a friend of mine has been metaquoted in a context you will probably appreciate. Go have a look. =)

Wordy McWord. With a side order of McFries and a McShake.

This was easily the most cliche-ridden Who episode so far. It annoys me that we've never heard a squeak of the Dad Who Died and yet this is supposed to be a big motivation for Rose joining the Doctor. The finale was telegraphed from virtually the first minute - it would have been so much more emotional had it been the case that the time line didn't get dramatically altered with Dragon!Time!Bacteria, but instead have him get run over anyway just when you thought he was going to be alright.

I don't understand why the Doctor didn't have the whole "I'm gonna ditch your ass, girl!" conversation either. Rose not only saved someone who should have died, but she also touche Baby!Rose despite being specifically told Don't Touch Baby!Rose! These are surely worse crimes than having your head drilled open in a bid to make money?

Shipping doesn't explain the Doctor's bizzare attachment either.

The only good bit was when Douchy!Doctor opens the TArDIS and finds it's a police box.
