So, went to see the matrix, but before I cut tag, I must mention that I really must learn to breath during the ROTK trailer *sheepish look*

Oh, and I was right [livejournal.com profile] havenward;P

Ah well, it was better than the second one. More coherent, if not by much with a better mix of fighting and mystic babble. I felt very comfortable watching it since it seemed to take every anime fighting theme and run with it; the fight against all odds with people dying everywhere and the sacrificial general (who always, *always*, dies while killing a huge number of the enemy), the fighting in the sky between Neo and Smith that had me thinking of Scryed and E's Otherwise, mecha, encounters with strange gods etc

Seraph still comes out my favourite character of the second two movies. I loved the hints on his backstory and thought he was cool.

Scene with the Merovingian was pretty but pointless.

Train station... er yeah, it just barely makes sense in a twisted sort of way, though the idea of two unrelated programs reproducing some strange kid who doesn't do anything (all programs do something that's why they're programs) then smuggling her out to the Matrix was quite frankly, weird. Little girl needs to learn to act too. Her scenes would have been a lot more effective if she had been acting better, as it was her dialogue came off flat.

Smith was having fun at least. Loved when he called the Oracle "mom" before assimilating her. Unfortunately he got bit by the usual villan problem of talking too much, though to be fair, he's always talked too much.

The squidies all boiling out in one mass reminded me of scenes from Inu yasha (miasma) and Monoke Hime (the blood worm thingies).

Was a bit too amused when Neo lost his sight. Anybody who reads any mythology knows that every archetypcal hero must lose his sight or a hand. 'Tis a rule. *g* As a plus side, Keanu Reeves is a much better actor when you can't see his eyes. See (pun intended), his facial expressions are fine, he just doesn't get his eyes right most of the time so with them covered it was quite nice.

I can't have been the only one wishing that Trinty would stop talking crap and die already... not that it wasn't poignant and all but it was far too long. I actually believed the two of them had a bit of chemistry in this movie which was a change from the last.

Some explaination of what Naomi was doing at the beginning of the movie and stuff like that would have been appreciated but the Watchowski brothers seem to have lost the art of exposition (and if they seriously think I'm going to spend hours playing a game/searching the internet to figure out the backstory... grrr...) Also Naomi herself is a bit of flat character, but boy can she drive!

There were some nice lines in this movie but nearly all of them were delivered wrong, so they caused few laughs.

The ending - wanna take bets on whether or not the machines were returning Neo's body to Zion, or just throwing it on the nearest garbage dump? *eg* The talk in the park was fine until the kid showed up, then it got a bit wonky.

Lovely, lovely end credit music. Must have.

So, where were all the epic fight scenes I loved in the first Matrix? Big battles with mecha just don't cut it in my mind and the fight between Neo and Smith while it had it's moments, was somewhat disappointing. I did like the fact that it wasn't really peace, just a truce, but that's about it.

Ah well, I can still rewatch the first movie.
