Wandered all over the university looking for a printer that worked so I could hand in my Arch. practical today. Discovered a secret labratory in one of the buildings, but life was otherwise uneventful. Worked on webpage i.e. my new job for the rest of the night.
I'm rereading Terry Pratchett's The Light Fantastic atm. It's amazing how his writing has solidified and changed since then. It's still a good book, but the details of Discworld are a lot more developed now. Pratchett himself seems to use less puns these days and more subtle humour which I adore since I have a highly selective sense of humour and it takes a lot for a book or movie to make me laugh (unless I'm high on sugar, then all bets are off). Rincewind's character is a lot more defined these days, and it's hard to read about Twoflower and not remember Interesting Times. All his characters seem a bit more memorable in the later books as well. Read a bit more of Night Watch in the bookshop today (am a third of the way through the book using this method since cannot afford hardcover). Am attempting to quell the urge to give Vimes a hug, and dearly wish I had my own copy of the book so I could copy down the badger quotation (something about a stuffed badger floating by the archancellor when he's in the bath near the beginning).
Started a sort of freeform writing exercise for the main char in my own novel. Was amused to discover that I can't remember any of the characters names and/or I haven't named them yet (this isn't that surprising - I can't remember the names of half my characters in the Uric stories either). I'll need to make some rules of naming people soon. Choosing names for HP OC's is so much easier.
