World of Glaciers
Ice, snow, mountains... you are a glacier dweller.
Sometimes people see you as distant or
apathetic, but it's only because their minds
don't work on a level as high as yours.

Awakened at 8:30am for my 9 o'clock seminar only to discover that the person who was to give the seminar called in sick at the last moment. Somehow I sincerly doubt that he was actually sick and wish he'd given us more warning so I wouldn't have bothered to get up. Now have that heavy tired feeling behind my eyes which is going to make Judo tonight so much *fun*. Maybe I'll try a nap later.

In other news, the kiddies around here did get to light their bonfire, and although the police came and threatened to call the fire brigage, they never did and so the kids burnt more and more fascinating things (like plastic bins) as the night wore on, after cursing off the police etc. It was interesting to watch from our living room window and the fire's still smoking this morning.

Think I'll write some more of Gentelmen of Fortune atm, then work on my essay if I don't collapse of sleep deprivation. Ja ne.

Spent day writing Gentlemen of Fortune (3 new pages! Whee!), reading POTC fic, working on my essay, and trying to find a place to dig in spring. You know, the reason I never write a lot of angst is that after a few pages of it, I can't stand it any longer and have to write in a few jokes... this perhaps makes me perfect to write a life history of Jack Sparrow...

Am trying to resist the siren call of more icons... Must. be. firm.

In other news, for anyone writing in the potc fandom, 'bloody' was a seriously rude word in the 1700's, mates, and wasn't transformed into the mild swear word it is today until after the Victorian age. A gentleman wouldn't be caught dead saying it, and a proper lady probably would faint at hearing it. Of course, it's fine for pirates to be bandying it about, but if they're listeners aren't pirates themselves they're bound to be shocked.

Well, I haven't hurt myself this much at martial arts for a long time. I guess I was overdue. Even typing is hurting (my fingers are aching from gripping people's giis). I walked back from Judo in what I can only call a haze of pain and even now I'm sitting here waiting for the painkillers to kick in a bit more. Reinjured my toe, though I'm not sure if it will bruise. My back's been twisted all the way around and is twinging a little atm, which I hope won't turn into twinging a lot in the morning, and the inside of my thighs are protesting any sort of walking above an old man's shuffle. I only have three bruises that I can count but I expect more in the morning so will update my count then, though I doubt I'll beat [livejournal.com profile] rinzei's formidable count of ten;) We didn't really do anything abnormal tonight other than more actual 'judo' style fighting (which accounts for two of my injuries...) and I ended up fighting a lot of guys who were bigger and taller than me, which isn't a problem in taijitsu but causes problems when you're doing ground fighting and can't fight dirty...

Think I'll go have a brandy and ginger ale and hope the pain goes away.
