Ranting, because I can

This whole "everybody's gay" thing in slash fic is really getting on my nerves atm, and this can almost solely be blamed on the tenipuri fandom (though it's annoyed me in many other fandoms over the years). One of the reasons the whole phenomena annoys me is because it's just not realistic, and it throws you out of the story. I can only have so many, "Wait. He's gay too?" moments before I get fed up. Another reason is that it smacks of lazy writing. Why give characters lives/characterizations when you can just pair them off with their most common/most convient pairing and have them in the backgroud?
