Scrolling through my friends list has never been easier. There's only one in twenty posts that I can read. *rolls eyes* Ah well. I did read the first four chapters of HBP earlier today, but since I couldn't find a copy this evening, and mine is waiting at my mum's house for me to read late tomorrow (since I'm going to visit Rin, which is much more important) I am instead enjoying reading all the new manga I picked up at Book Off today.
English manga should never be priced at $5 a shot since it means Ariana buys much more of it then she should. I now have Samurai Deeper Kyo 3-5, the first two volumes of Sanami Matoh's Until the Full Moon (I'm always willing to give her a chance, especially with what seems to be a very weird gender bender... thingy.) and the first two volumes of Threads of Time which looked interesting. Picked up some Full Metal Panic for my bro as well (and I have a small Miroku figurine I 'rescued' from Borders this evening. *L*). I also gave the doujin section at Book Off a more thourough perusal. Can't say I recognized most of the series, but it was all I could do not to giggle maniacally when I found a Street Fighter 2 doujinshi featuring at least one character in a sailor fuku *L* There was Hikaru no Go, Gundam Wing and a few others, but I migrated back to the Kenshin ones again. The volume I bought the other day was part of a series of compliations, so I looked through the other volumes that were there, and while most were boring (ie far too serious for my tastes) I was once again drawn in by one with a crossdressing kenshin - this time with him being brought back to Shinsengumi headquarters by Saitou and dressed as a girl to hide his identity. That's some mighty good crack that doujin author was on. *g* I seriously need to translate/a translation on this one though...
I'm kinda dazed about how it happened (seeing as how disconected I am from the HP fandom these days *shifty look*) but I was in NYC last night as one of the Fictionalley volunteers at Books of Wonder (okay, so I know exactly how it happened *peers at Cedar* *L*). It was a crazy experience, handing out trivia and directing people and watching the store manager slowly go insane... Talked to the lady who does the art (damned if I can remember her name, but don't really care that much) if only to point out that the owls were out of their boxes. Carried many boxes of the books. Watched a Dementor maul taxi cabs (YES! MWAHAHA! *ahem*). Saw many people in costume, including the lovely Cedar. My reward for the night was a dinky HP autograph book too *L*
Let's see, yesterday was spent in the company of
cedarlibrarian and
heathersy and
roseofrohan. There was shopping and Monster Sushi (is there anything better than unagi sushi? The answer is no.) and a severe longing for air conditioning and much joy and fun. Today, was supposed to see Wonka on IMAX but it was sold out so Cedar, Heather and I just headed back to NJ seeing as they were up until 5:30am reading *eyes them* and I was up cause I can't sleep when people are laughing and discussing books next to me (I sincerely wish I wasn't so sound sensitive... cause then I'd have had a few more hours sleep). As it was, we were all walking zombies. Have died of cuteness overload from Cedar's kitties btw.
Enough of this babble. I should probably read manga then sleep, or something. Ja ne.
