I'm feeling spammy tonight obviously. I haven't done three posts in the same day for awhile. *L* Anyway, I have another 'me being mistaken for someone a hell of a lot younger than me' story from today. The fact that I have so many of them is worrying.
So, I was at the local library helping my mum find the Terry Pratchett books, because really, what are daughter's for? and I wandered into the young adult's section to see if their manga selection had miraculously grown. This was not the case, so I prepared to walk out again, but was talked to by the young adult's librarian who asked if I was looking for manga. This triggered the happy talking of this girl sitting at a computer nearby who seemed starved for talking about manga/anime (not to mention looking up Hatahori pictures...).
I couldn't think of a polite way to get out of such an enthusiastic conversation (yes, I can be polite to total strangers... and distant family relations who give me money) so I just agreed, discussed a few of my favourite series, agreed that Sesshoumaru was indeed hot, etc. I finally got in a question asking what school she went to so I could slip in the information that I didn't, and she mentions my freaking middle school! My answer of, "oh, I went there" was completely ignored to continue her babble, though I believe the "We should hang out some time" was what made me wince because it really drove home that I was at least eight years older than her. So there I was, feeling old and being mistaken for a high school freshman if not younger. Life is weird.
(Did manage to escape in the end while being unfailingly polite... I think I should blame reading too many Iruka fics today for my politeness...)
