The seminar for Bujinkan this weekend was fun, if tiring. We did weapons the entire time. Kodaichi for the first half, then kodaichi and swords, just swords, and swords against bo. I had a good partner. I trained with him years ago, but back then I wasn't skilled enough to appreciate what a good training partner he was/is, even if he did slightly abandon me at the end... Jack made me teach, which is great because this was a seminar, not a regular class, even if it is scary as hell. Managed to do it without too much adrenaline fueled rambling this time. Was also used as an example of bo use, which is kinda surprising since I still suck at it. He made me use the bo one handed, using my hip in place of the other hand, to hit something. He made me do it a few times in front of the whole group then asked if anyone else wanted to try, since it was really difficult to do. No one did:P
I discovered that I can use a bo a lot better if people don't give me clear directions. My dyslexia kicks in if people say something like use your left hand or reverse, but when this other guy I was training with at the end just told me to twirl the bo, it was relatively easy. Really need to practice bo more on my own. Maybe outside, against a tree or something. The kodaichi training was definately my favourite of the seminar though, maybe cause it was all just regular taijutsu (we were training to fight someone using a kodaichi... which might explain why the technique was called 'bee sting' or might not...). Jack's really big on 'no technique' atm so it's all just being in the right place at the right time. Good and relatively relaxing. I also got to see a lot of people I've been missing over the years so that was nice too.
Afterwards, went home for a quick shower and dinner before driving up to
rinzei's. It was a grueling and rather dangerous drive due to the rain and my driving an unfamilar and not-so-good-in-the-rain car, but made it okay. There, we DDRed (or rather I did one, and she did many, while I watched), read Yotsuba& vol. 1 & 2 (if you've seen/read Azumanga Diaoh, it's like the main character is Chiyou-chan and Osaka combined *scary*), and watched MST3K. I wasn't good for much else, and still am not. Too tired and too sore, though I have very few bruises for a seminar (ie 4) due to having such a good training partner.
