Bujinkan tonight was fun. We paired up by height which meant poor R. was left with me since he's only a few inches taller. Not that we didn't have fun:P We started off with the basic Judo hip throw and Jack made me teach the class since I did a few months of Judo in uni (and he once based a whole class around me demonstrating every Judo throw I knew and showing how to counter them all), then the first hour was spent practicing how to avoid being thrown. It's kinda funny since I once used one of the techniques unconciously to avoid being injured in my karate class (the guy throwing me was horrible at it and kept nearly injuring me so I subtly made it so he couldn't throw me in the first place).

R. picked up on something I've always known I was bad at - namely effectively restraining a person once they're on the ground so he made sure to make it hard for me so I'd actually do it right. I really need to get some practice in on my own. Pehaps my brother will 'volunteer' *eg* I actually feel kinda sorry for my bro atm. His 18th birthday is this month and Sensei Jack keeps asking about it with an evil grin. 18 is the age when Jack usually decides he's free to seriously injure someone, and he's also probably going to get the boy to take his black belt exam. I know that's what Jack did to me when he found out I was over 18...

R. and I had a good time since we got to play around with resisting and escaping. He'd do the technique half-assed on purpose and I'd see if I could struggle out of it. This led to uncessary technqiues, but was a lot of fun nonetheless. I had to wash my hair later cause he kept using moves that involves stepping on it. *L* Have gained a few new bruises, as usual.

My dad and I have been watching more ST: OS. I really am actually impressed by all the minorities that do get represented on the series. It's certainly impressive for the time period. I can't help but snicker horribly every time they mention the ST timeline though. Did you know the Eugenics wars happened in the 1990s? Guess I missed those *L* I finally got the see the original Kahn episode and it was kinda fun except for the interesting female historian was once again ruined by her random, submissive romance.

My bro and I watched the latest Bleach eps a few days ago. I thought they did a decent job animating the end of the Shinigami arc, though I wish they'd expanded more on the aftermath than they did in the manga cause there really wasn't enough follow up in either medium. The filler arc is weird in it's not horrible, it's just kinda boring. I keep being reminded of 80's mystery anime. (Will our heroes solve the puzzle cube and make it to the next room?) This is strangely in keeping with the random jazzy 80s style song they continue to play during random fight scenes. Cannot figure out how they're explaining Ishida and his power's thing. Also was weirded out to find in the latest English Shonen Jump that Tite Kubo actually draws the character designs and stuff for the anime. That's rather unusual but explains why the characters look so close to the manga. Also, what is up with the cracktastic (and I mean that in a bad way) ending for the filler arc?
