surrealism, teaching, etc.

It seemed almost surreal to have a woman explain to me how they farm their rice field in my class on friday. Almost as surreal as my explaining crop rotation and the planting habits of the midwest back *L*

My saturday was a bit of a slog, mostly cause I woke up with a low grade sore throat, most likely courtesy of one of the Kindergarteners. Meh. I was so tired and out of it by the end of the day, I just got home, took hours to remember to warm up some food and eat it, and watched really random movies like Clueless and the Princess Diaries (it's interesting what videos have been left in my apartment...). Clueless is funnier than I remember it being, and Princess Diaries was weird since I'm pretty sure I read the books when I was ten or something. Then I spent the rest of the night making icons and feeling sorry for myself.

The ladies I chat with in the mornings on Saturday think I'm "sugoi" (great, cool etc.) because I know such a weird selection of things. They're not the first of my students to say something like this. I think it's probably because I introduce a lot of new vocabulary without meaning too since my speaking vocabulary tends towards the high end of the spectrum. These ladies are really funny though cause if the one who doesn't speak much english shows up, they tend to spend half their time chattering in Japanese. I can follow what they say somewhat, but I doubt they really mean for the class to be a learning exercise for me. Still, they're paying for it and if they want to use Japanese half the time, it's their business.

Dreams last night were chaotic, mostly to do with star wars. Lots of space battles and blasters. Also dreamt I was having a long, meandering conversation with siriaeve:D Still have the sore throat but nose isn't clogged or anything so hopefully I will recover over the weekend. I have a new major class on Tuesday at a nursing school. I'll have 45 bloody students! Gah. And attendance is mandatory so I'm sure they'll be ever so enthusiastic /sarcasm Still, am only working four days this week, then there's Golden Week during which I have planned many small trips to surrounding areas with G. Should be fun:)

I have fallen in love with Hermes House Band. I love their remixes of class songs, though Take me Home Country Road wins hands down.
