Well, my first time teaching French went okay today. The guy was a little higher level than I'd been led to believe by his folder, but he's still at a low enough level for me to manage it, though I'm going to have to start looking online for lessons to teach him in a few months since I have only one decent textbook and it's short. (Anybody know some good ones, actually?) I was very amused when he told me the reason he wants to learn French is to go to France and meet beautiful women. I was hard pressed not to laugh. It was kinda weird since I managed to talk for most of the class in French. I tend to think my French verbal skills are pretty poor, and they are to the French. But I don't think this guy knew that my pauses between words weren't pauses to help him undestand but were more me trying to remember the word and/or conjugate the verb. The French would have interupted me or switched to English by that point. His pronouciation skills were about what I expected (ie poor) and it was weird to have him not recognize me asking his name, but recognize past tense. Oh well. I can manage this and it's actually an excellent review of the language for me, not to mention a confidence booster.
My weeks been kinda blah other than that. I've been in and out of the doctor's twice for a urinary tract infection which they're throwing all kinds of antibiotics at. My body has ignored them, but that will hopefully change in a few days. In the meantime, my father's care package arrived with a ridiculous amount of macaroni and cheese (I asked for a few boxes and got twenty-five...), cinnamon sticks, horseradish, earrings, DVD-R's, and popcorn. Also got the first season of Jeeves and Wooster and SW's Clone Wars. Have watched the first two eps of J&W and adore it. I also can't believe how nostalgic we all get over the taste of mac and cheese. I've since promised to have a mac and cheese party *L*
Weekend is looking busy. Most people are going to fireworks on saturday, but since M. and I work, I'm doing kickboxing, then we're going out to do... something, who knows *L* Sunday, G. and I are heading to the beach, then fireworks in Nagato tabun. And I must plan out my classes for tomorrow, and do some writing. Ja ne!
