Mr. Bean's Christmas Special continues to be a lifesaver for me. I've watched it twice today and will, no doubt, watch it twice tomorrow. (The nativity bit is hilarious, while the turkey bit is rather tedious, though is almost worth it for the "have you got the turkey on?" comment.) I got bored and started teaching Hanukkah today as well. It's kinda interesting to talk to someone who doesn't even know what a Jew is... And it occurs to me I didn't even once teach the Christmas story but I did teach the Macabees (sp?) twice *L* I'm such a good Jewish girl (which probably explains why I feel guilty about not having a menorah this year).

With the exception of [livejournal.com profile] sylk and my father, all holiday packages have now been sent off. This means all of you snack exchange people should be recieving your packages right around now if you haven't already. It was really nice to get tea and malteasers this morning and Runts in the afternoon (you know, I hated the lime flavour, but I'm really not sure if watermelon is any better... blue raspberry is great but it shaped like a cherry. why?) I'm pretty sure no one at my work expected presents (or at least, that I'd give presents to everybody) but oh well. Worse comes to worse, their Japanese gift giving guilt will kick in and they'll buy me something (like how one of my students mum's had to give me coffee today cause I gave her and her daughter chocolate). I'd have felt guilty if I didn't include everyone in the gift giving and could care less if they reciprocate so it makes no difference to me.

I made sure to stuff all my kiddies with candy before I sent them home. Why? Because I'm evil. Mwahaha! Or, you know, too sick to care too much.

I've been rather impressed by how much snot and stuff I can cough up while on medicine and antibiotics (I went to the doctor on monday in case I forgot to mention), though this is nothing compared to the misery I spent my sunday in.

I really have to stop buying One Piece doujinshi, or doujinshi in general. I never find the time to read it! Also, the Naruto doujin has mysteriously disappeared from the second hand shop. I have this low level urge to know who bought it all.

I think the singing lady is a bit worried about my health. I mentioned I'd been drinking ginger tea and she promised to make me real ginger tea with grated ginger and honey tomorrow morning. This may also have been because I found it impossible to speak in class this morning though.

Wow. This post is excedingly scatterbrained. Sorry.

Feeling rather run down. The cold is bearable, but my body is getting tired of being sick and is making it known.

I was right about the singing lady bringing me real ginger and honey. It was kinda cool how we grated it and dumped it fresh into the cup along with copious amounts of honey. It was actually pretty good if ridiculously strong (and since the ginger was inside the cup it just got stronger). It was also kinda hard to drink if you didn't feel like swallowing loads of ginger. She, of course, gave me all the extra ginger so I'm currently drinking another cup of the stuff, though I've sieved most of the ginger out. It's still strong as hell. I keep feeling like I'm in an old Chinese legend searching for the magical root of immortality, which is silly but kinda fun. It does seriously numb your tongue and throat so it's definately good for something. She also gave me an apple which I'm apparently supposed to grate and eat - that's a home remedy I've never heard before.

I basically just let me college class watch Mr. Bean's Christmas (and in the case of the first class, Fawlty Towers). They had to answer questions I asked about Christmas which showed the usual complete lack of knowledge.

I asked both classes where Jesus was born.
First class: one guy - Islam, two others - Israel.
I was impressed.
Second class (in order of their guesses): Japan - Hawaii - Britain (I told them it was somewhere hot) - Egypt - Saudi Arabia - Pakkistan - Israel *breathes sigh of relief*
They had more general knowledge than the first class about Christmas, so as I reward, I taught them about Hanukkah.

So if anyone asks you, Jesus was either born in Japan or Scotland.
