First off, anyone on my friends list want to recommend a decent, cheap hotel in Beijing/Peking?

I've been really stressed trying to get everything together these past weeks. Currently, I'm about half way to my goal.

a) My trip to China is booked and I paid the deposit on the tickets. I still need to find a hotel in Beijing and get my Chinese visa. I'll probably do that next week since I don't feel up to a trip to Fukuoka this weekend.

b) I found a way to accept my place at Leeds by email which has solved one problem (even if they still have yet to send me the actual acceptance letter *sigh*). I need to sort out accomodation and apply for my student visa still, both of which will be done this weekend if I have any say in the matter.

c) Found a flight to NY from Tokyo for $709 dollars. It requires me to hang around in Tokyo for a few days longer than I planned, but at least I've got a flight home. I've booked a very cheap room for that time period and I just need to confirm it. I booked my flight up to Tokyo from Ube today, and I'm basically going to have to go to Narita airport and drop my bags in storage until my flight (there is no way I can make it through the subway system with two bags that are as big as me). It's been a hassle, but I'm relieved I'm not leaving Japan without being able to train at Bujinkan's hombu dojo.

In local news, I bought a yukata complete with accessories. It's a dark purple/blue with orangeish dragonflies and circles on it. I'm not even sure I'll find the time to wear it while I'm here, but I've always wanted one and 4000 yen (~$35) for the yukata, obi, hand bag and geta is nothing to sneeze at.

I let my advanced class watch Scrubs eps 1 and 2 on Wenesday. They really liked it though I had to explain the American health care system and spooning *L* Wenesday kid's class, one of the mother's gave me a snow cone. So much love.

It's getting hot and humid around here finally. That and stress has been playing hell with my sleeping patterns. (I can't sleep in the heat.) It's mosquito season too (the bastards).

One of my beetles appears to be alive though it only comes out and moves around at random times during the night (it could be a zombie beetle. that would be cool). Think other larva must be dead. 1 out of 3. Oh well.

Noticed I was a few months behind on updating my memories and tags over at [livejournal.com profile] ficrecs so I caught up and reorganized the crossovers so they also appear under tags with their original series.

Found out I'm going to be paid $7 for the story I wrote for the magazine. It's the first time I've been paid for my writing, so I've marked it as a milestone, though have decided not to get excited about it. Book writing is going dismally since too stressed and out of it.

My wanderlust is acting up in a "I want to live somewhere new" sort of way and not in a "go travel somewhere for the weekend" way. Part of it is just a reaction to all these preps for trips I've been making and part is just restlessness and a need to escape.

I'm going to lose a lot of weight next year when I run out of money for food, and I have no idea where I'm going to live during July and August.

My head hurts.
