Bujinkan was last night. I ended up training with a newbie so I spent most of the class helping him and didn't get much of my own training in. It got a bit convoluted since he wanted to watch me do the techniques (while he was punching, kicking etc) but since he was watching me, he wasn't being a good uke and actually punching me realistically which meant the techniques he was watching were flawed since everything was about timing and distance. I felt kinda sorry for the guy since, as Jack stated, we're training at a 5th level black belt's level and everyone else just has to keep up. I can well remember the panic when I started about doing things and how even though you'd just watched the technique, you had no idea how to do it. You can always tell someone's been training for awhile when they get paired with a black belt and are willing to try the technique first since it means they're finally absorbing how to do things. I somehow pulled a muscle in my thigh before training so I was in a lot of pain for the whole class cause even when the adrenaline kicked in, it still hurt about half as much as before. By the end of the class, the knee on my other leg was hurting from me trying to unconsciously compensate for the thigh muscle.

I read The City of Ember yesterday. It's one of those books I'm certain I'd have really enjoyed when I was younger but found pretty bland at this age.

This morning, I woke up around 9 and was surprised to find that my aches and pains from the night before were gone. I walked to the voting polling place and my knee did start to ache a little, but not too badly. It was weird when I got there since there are two districts and district one was packed with a queue of at least 25 people stretching to the back for one machine (and some very sarcastic polling people saying things like, "Enjoy your line."). I was in district two though so I walked over to the other table, signed my name twice, boggled over the fact that they never ask for your ID, and was ushered right into the voting booth since there was no one else there. I was a bit annoyed that they failed to inform us that there would be some extra state amendment questions on the ballot (the pre voting ballot they sent out should have mentioned it methinks Never mind, I seem to have missed the English explanation of them on the ballot and only seen the Spanish.) When I finished, there was still no one waiting so I had a nice walk home in weather that required me taking my coat off. I settled in with an apple and some caramel red bush tea and that was that.
