I dreamt this morning that Miles Vorkosigan and Eugenides from the Thief series were brothers. Barrayar was a protectorate of the Mede Empire, and Miles adored Barrayar's Empress. Miles and Eugenides made a deal at some point that Miles would deal with the official, upstanding duties of the heir to the Vorkosigan title, whereas Eugenides turned his talents to secretly leading the Rebellion against the Medes (though they both helped since Miles is incapable of not getting involved). The Mede were closing in on Eugenides, tormenting and interrogating any members of the Rebellion they could get their hands on. (They had chased a woman into an abandoned building at one point, but Miles saved her.) Miles being a good older brother, went to help Eugenides, but hadn't actually met up with Gen yet by the time I woke up enough to go, "Wow, what a crossover." *L*
I had another dream where I was a father, taking my son to fish out on the river which was filled with sharks and mutated fish that talked, while trying to avoid talking to my crazy relatives who lived on the bayou, but don't ask me what that was about... (wtf?)
I've been reading a book a day for the past couple of days, which makes me nostalgic for my childhood when I'd read a book a day every day for years on end. So I read Skellig (pretty and somewhat sincere), The Graveyard Book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (excellent), and The Queen of Attolia (great) and will probably head to the library today to pick up the next Thief book even though I still have some books outstanding.
Bujinkan last night was onigadaki which is usually one of my favourite moves. For some reason, it kinda exhausted me and I went home with a pounding headache and drowsiness, not to mention a little depressed. Go figure. Despite all that, training went well. We did break falls at the beginning, which earned me some nice rug burns on my elbows and then we had to practice break falling if we're holding a rifle (as Jack said, just in case) and making sure none of your body was sticking up afterwards so you don't get shot. Then was the onigadaki which was easy for me so I worked on testing out different distances and what I could and couldn't get away with. My partner mostly did okay and when he didn't I have the deep muscle bruises to prove it *L* Our last parts involved hung bo and total immobilizations/take downs which are always interesting because you have to guide a person to the ground the same way each time if you want to end up in the proper position. Jack did one of the more complicated bo moves for onigadaki (which we were still doing, just using the bo as your second hand) and I did it right the first time since all the other times I've seen it over the years have finally sunk in and Jack called out, "That's my girl!" which would have had me looking askance at the man had I not been in the middle of kicking arse *L* He's taken to calling me Doc too, cause of the phd. Oh well. I would like to note I was very social last night and chatted with half of the class, mostly cause I got there early, and part of that probably explains why I was so exhausted afterwards. Social and physical exhaustion could explain how horrible I felt after training. Luckily, The Queen of Attolia cheered me right up (and yes, I know the book is somewhat grim, but since I wasn't as depressed as Gen, it cheered me up:P).
