I cleaned and vacuumed my room today. This doesn't happen more than twice a year so I thought I should note it on my calendar. When I lived alone, I'd clean once a month, but it's hard to work up the effort for it when Dad's house isn't all that clean to begin with. I vacuumed half the kitchen today too and didn't notice a difference between the cleaned and non-cleaned half. I'm pretty used to it since I grew up here, but it doesn't inspire you to clean like my spotless kitchen in Japan did.
Bujinkan tonight was shikai (shihai?), which are kinda like thick bludgeoning swords. You hold them in one hand, using the other to brace it (when you're using it to block) or to lever it around if you're swinging it in an arc. In practice, we just use our regular swords and pretend they're shorter and thicker. I did surprisingly well with it judging by the lack of being told I was doing something wrong (most of the time). It really pleased me that I was able to help my partner, T., do a lot better. Jack was there and fell to teasing me about not recognizing me since he hadn't seen me in a month. I rolled my eyes and explained the foot injury, but I'm a little worried that I might have set C. up for Jack punishing him. I don't blame C. for what happened (he can't control everything at his seminar), but Jack clearly stated he does. Meanwhile, I had a close call during training in that Jack stepped on my injured foot while demonstrating to me, but luckily, he hit the right side of it which isn't the injured part. Could feel it aching when I tried to sit in seizan later though. My hands atm have definite sword calluses on them (or at least the appearance of them). Sherlock Holmes would identify my hobby within seconds of shaking my hand *g* My hands really took a beating today actually. One of my knuckles is sore, there are random red marks all over them from having a sword twisted out of my hand (or when my partner accidentally hit/crushed my hand with his sword), and I'm missing a layer of skin on another of my knuckles cause I scratched it off without noticing while I was carving my spear.
Without really thinking about it, I ended up scheduling myself for training for my Rutgers help desk job tomorrow and a regular shift at the hospital. That means I'll be working 12 hours tomorrow. This was rather stupid of me, methinks. Will just suck it up and get on with it.
