So, I went into the city today with a list of possible things for N. and I to do once we met up at 4pm. Until then, I had a lovely lunch in Bryant park, then headed into the library for some serious studying for a few hours. For the first time, my wireless finally worked in that place. I also hit up Kinokuniya for stationary supplies (I go through those plastic decorated folders very quickly cause the designs on them make them so easy to use to separate papers and then remember where they are by the design on the file. (I also try to use them to psych myself up - for example, my taxes are in pink folder covered in rainbow hearts.)), and almost picked up a volume of Seirei no Moribito, but they didn't have book 3. I figured I'd check for it at Book Off, but Book Off was gone! *wails*
Anyway, met up with N. at Penn. station and after a quick run down of my list, we decided to try an unlikely to happen, but fun idea. Namely, we headed over to the box office for Wicked and put our names in the raffle they hold 2 1/2 hours before each show. There are 25, front row tickets offered for $26.50 each. In practice that means about 13 people will be picked since most people request two tickets. There were at least a hundred people waiting by the time they called the raffle. I had run off for a bit to find an ATM and get cash since they required that to pay for the tickets, not really expecting to have to use it. They called the first 10 names, then told everyone to wait while they went for more. They called the eleventh name and then the 12th was, much to my shock, my name. Cue giddiness *L* We paid for our tickets then headed to a ramen place N. knew about for a delicious dinner of higashi ramen (cold ramen) which had lots of healthy vegetables in it, even if it did have a million times more than your daily recommended salt intake.
After that, we headed back to the show and took our seats. We could peer right into the orchestra and the stage was only a foot or two from our faces. Around us were people who'd paid $100+ for their tickets and had reserved them in Feb. (mwahaha!) The show was great. The two female leads were excellent actors and great singers. The one playing Glinda was a good comedian too. The staging was also great. I especially loved it during Defying Gravity. I also want to kidnap their costume designer and keep them in my basement. On our way out of the play, we accidentally walked by the stage door and got our playbills signed by the actress for Glinda and actor playing the prince. It really was an awesome night:D
