deralte: (fma for the best (by me))

Well, life threw me another curve this week when I discovered that my health insurance for the year has been tripled for no particular reason. This made me panic since I'd budgeted for the old payments, not the new ones and I pretty much had to scramble and see if I'd actually make the extra thousand or so I'd need before the final payment was due in January. By my calculations, I will but there'll be no extraneous spending. Which is depressing, especially since my mp3 player just bit the dust.

This news is why I jumped on doing an extra shift at the helpdesk last night despite the fact that it meant having to come home and immediately buckle down to do my Korean and Japanese homework and study for a kanji quiz. It's not much, but every extra shift I can do might mean being able to replace my mp3 player or buy Christmas presents.

I'm looking forward to Yom Kippur this year. I like fasting, even though I won't be thinking that by late afternoon on Sat. *L*

Learning Korean is still maintaining an air of novelty. I'm continually shocked that I can read it already and I've even understood random bits of communication I've heard around campus. I've also been meeting a lot more Koreans - like, randomly on the bus when they see I'm studying Korean - meeting. It amuses me.
