ext_12918: (doctor who (by me))
See, I'm not against the Doctor having a romance persay. In fact, I thought his flirting with that tree woman in The End of the World was cute (if a bit disconcerting. Of course, I hadn't seen the movie by that point;)), but I'm not really that much of a fan of Doctor/Rose, nor am I a fan of any show that centres around so much shipping. There's all this emphasis on the Doctor being lonely, but in fact, there's plenty of interesting people he could be traveling with. Rose is not unique, or as special as they seem to keep wanting to portray her as. It pissed me off in this last episode that apparently the Doctor was ready to die and let the entire universe end so Rose didn't have to watch her father die again. After the decisions we've seen him make earlier in this season, it was really unbelievable and trite.

I swear (excluding McGann) Ecclestone is the most touchy feely Doctor I've ever seen. I think he's held Rose's hand in every episode so far (and she wonders why everyone thinks he's her boyfriend...). Yet, the interesting thing about it is that he's not all that concerned with it. There was his comment in the last episode, "I'll hug anybody." that shows it doesn't mean all that much to him. Of course, all those deep looks he and Rose exchange on the other hand... And yet that comment by the Dalek about the woman you love was so singularly out of place. Gah. The whole situation just annoys me, though part of that is definately that I can already see how fandom is going to turn out. *huggles her tiny little gen preferring world* /end response rant;)

Greetings. Nice to see another Dr. Who fan:) Have you seen my Dr. Who lj icons (http://www.arianaderalte.com/icona.htm)?
