I think you've hit the main problem I have - that an authority figure in the story supports the action therefore making it morally correct not only for the characters but for the author and readers as well. My other problem was that these were otherwise well written fics which usually speaks of emotional maturity so to see such blatant "cheap moralism" was somewhat disturbing.
