Incidentally, I am quite jealous that you are in Japan. *JEALOUS* Glad to hear you seem to be having fun! And of course hangman would be good for students learning English. :)
And I'm not sure how anal the Japanese can be when it comes to recycling but I'd actually be surprised if they're worse than the Germans; back home my family sorts their rubbish into six different types (more if you count stuff like batteries, electronics and different colours of glass).
