Looking for jobs is depressing, though I'm not sure why since I'm qualified for most of them that I'm finding. I am rather pissed that I missed out on the perfect job for my year out cause applications finished on the day I got back from my holiday. It's frustrating. *sigh* I really wish they'd finish up the filler on One Piece (am on 142) since I need some cheering up and filler isn't cutting it.
...

When did my mum start calling me 'girl'? I call my bro, 'boy' or 'the boy', and she picked that up from me, but 'girl' is new... I think I'll review some things since I'm sick of job searching. Lots of spoilers. You have been warned.

Chocolate Factory was mostly disturbing, which is kinda odd since I don't remember the book being that way. I definately enjoyed hte book more, but loved the Ooompa loompas in the movie (and appreciated that they were the proper height), even if I was wondering just what they were smoking half the time. The last oompa song was definately my favourite. As for Wonka... cannot remember the book well enough to comment on characerization (think I read it when I was 9 or something) but Depp did a good, if creepy job and the kids were nice charicatures. Was craving chocolate while watching the movie, but saddened by the fact that actual Wonka bars taste horrible. Ah well.

Legal Drug 3 pushed the gay to new levels. I'm still amazed that there's been no boys kissing yet. Still, an all boys school where guys date openly and dress in drag and marry each other? Uh, yeah. My sense is that Clamp just likes dressing guys in drag... something i can't blame them for since I enjoy it too, but I enjoy it a little more when it's a character who normally doesn't. This looks like it's going to be a recurring theme. Blond uke guy wasn't so annoying this time around, though I think Clamp needs to work on making their tall, big, dark haired guys look a bit different from each other.

Hana Kimi 3 - I really enjoyed this volume, maybe cause it was so self contained. Setting it during their summer holiday worked well and the plot was as low key as usual. Liked seeing hte doctor's family, but am beginning to forget who all the side characters are again. Cannot figure out why, for the life of me, the girl (cannot remember her name) hasn't noticed that Sano knows she's a girl yet. Only this is manga logic and we all know Akane never found out about p-chan, yes? I'm pretty sure that telling a guy the girl he almost raped is actually a guy is not punishment enough...

Saiyuki Reload 1 - Yes! New Saiyuki! *ahem* I loved how this started out with the usual spiel about the minus wave, then was cut in by Kanzeon Bosatsu saying, "but you already know all that shit" (or something similar). The art has improved. All the characters look more human (ie, not anorexic) and in general the lines are more refined. First plot was basic and felt kinda overdone. There's only so many times one can repeat that they're dangerous and being followed by youkai and the whole theme of living for yourself etc that it gets old. Some of the insults were suprisingly new though. I can't figure out if that's because they finally started translating the nastier ones or if the manga just got dirtier *eg* I liked the second story with the good youkai though it got a bit confusing at the end. I knew what was happening, but I'd have prefered something a little more defined and less shoujoesque (whee! new word!). The extra chapter at the end was scary if only cause of Dokugaji in a bunny suit *sweatdrop* Kougaji didn't look bad, but, er, yeah. Scary.

Bleach - While I was't really surprised by the revelation of Ichigo being a... whatever that word is, it was damn surprising that his father's a shinigami, or was. Even weirder is his apparent collaboration with Urahara. I'd hoped for answers in chapter 189, but instead the plot went back to Ichigo. I suspect i'm not getting any answers for another hundred chapters at this point. *pouts*

D-gray man - Can't say I liked this series much. I think I kept reading though the first book simply because the main character looks like a goth Edward Elric. Other than that, the plot was weak and it felt like everything lacked depth even when we were discussing the angsty back stories of characters, nor could I believe that everyone in the world would rather call back the soul of their departed one - especially if they knew what would happen to them.

I had to get my dad and bro to watch Princess Bride for the first time today after they flabergasted me by telling me they'd never seen it before. Was left doubting if I was related to them, or if they were actually alien marsupial from the planet Kharski (and wouldn't that be cool?). They, of course, enjoyed it, which is good since I may have had to disown them if they didn't;)
