Getting all the lj comments from the past few weeks randomly today has been rather weird. It's like looking into the past.
Bujinkan tonight was nice. M. and I joked around near the beginning until I ended up training with one of the younger, new guys. Sensei Jack showed up about a third of the way through. He's been in Japan the past few weeks and it showed by his enthusiasm now that he's back. (He was also singing, which is always a good sign since it means he'll only beat up the uke, but it was also bad for me since it was christmas carols and now they're stuck in my head.)
We worked on throws using arms and space, which was fun (especially since my partner was really tall so whenever he threw me I went flying (whee!)). I had to be careful with him since he didn't roll well. Later, we did the same throws but with a bo. It was surprisingly easy. We haven't used a bo so practically in awhile now. Jack said one very cryptic thing to me that I still have no idea what it meant, but he also saw me do this one move and said that was exactly what he was looking for, which made me grin (especially since he didn't make me teach *L*). Amusingly enough, Jack mock attacked my brother after class and was surprised when the boy avoided it immediately. He asked if he was paranoid and if I attacked him all the time - which is exactly what I do *eg*
I really wish sensei wouldn't say things like "the bo is a living thing" during class though since it always sends my mind off on anime tangents, and when I refocus later I realize he's changed the technique and I've nearly missed it...
I've already reached the 'muttering curses under my breath stage every time I hear a christmas song' stage. Is it so wrong to want to listen to normal music during the month of December?!
