The one he made for Norrington you mean? It's concievable that the balance would be nearer the hilt (curved weapons with a single edge seem to lend themselves to that) not to mention Will explained why the weight was there himself by saying the tang was nearly the full width of the blade (the tang is the part of the blade that extends into the handle, the longer the tang the less likely it is to break in battle... and most katana's are made that way). What I assume Will meant was that hte tang was wide and long (ie. heavy) which balanced out the other end of the blade. A good blade for swashbuckling, then:)
