So, the hospital was okay with me cutting down my hours to basically nothing for the next several weeks while I work on my phd apps. After a weekend spent recovering from the stress (in which I played Civ. 4 and spent hours with a camera down at the canal taking pictures of the birds and autumn foliage), I went back to my crazy mon-fri schedule, and even though I still feel like I don't have enough time (seriously, why the hell is there so much work in a beginning Korean class?), I at least have more time than I did before. Less money too, but I won't die so long as I can work more over the holidays.

So yeah, alive, and mostly well. I think the thing that's messing me up the most atm is the early morning schedule. I'm just not built for waking up early each day without naps at some point later, and since I don't have time for those naps, I end up with lack of sleep headaches following me throughout the day. Also, the varying things that can go wrong or right on my two hour commute that can make me twenty minutes early or twenty minutes late continues to fascinate me. Also, there are people out there who are much more stressed then I am if the guy who almost punched me on the train is anything to go by... Anyway, have a Japanese exam to study for so gotta go. Ja ne!

You sound better. I'm so glad you gave yourself some time off this past weekend.

I'm glad you got some breathing space and were able to lightening things up a bit. *hugs* Will hope sleep comes your way. But wtf with someone almost punching you on a trian?

*hugs* Getting these phd apps done is driving me insane and I have no confidence in my personal statement *sigh*

I was using the seat next to me as a desk because it's very hard to write kanji when you've got a floppy book as your only desk, so I had a book on top of my bag and was working on my homework that way. I wasn't worried about taking the extra seat because it's a double decker train and there are always other seats. This guy came up and barks out, "Move your bag." I looked up at him and noted the wild look in his eyes and asked if he would find another seat because- then he cut me off, looking like he wanted to punch me, to go, "No!" and that I hadn't paid for an extra seat for my bag (which was true, but there were other seats on that train. we'd only just pulled out of the station where he got on so there was no way he'd done more than walked through one level of a train car). Then he actually sat on my bag. I was impressed by how rude he was, and pointed out there were other seats on the train, which he didn't believe me about. I told him he was very rude, then went back to my homework, though with much sloppier handwriting. It annoyed me for awhile since he'd never have dared be so rude and bullying if I were a guy, but I figure he'd also have been in for a shock if he'd actually thrown that punch. How to deflect it and take him down had flashed through my brain the moment I saw that look in his eyes.
