Fictionalley has lost a chapter of Sands of Time. The Interlude chapter is gone, despite the fact that I have a review thread with reviews on it for that chapter. I suspect it somehow got deleted after the last fiasco with the story (the chapter was uploaded, I was never sent the email telling me so, and the link to the review thread didn't work so I had no way of knowing). Now I get to have fun getting them to fix it...

I think I should have everyone who wants Uric and Louis fight it out in two separate groups with the spoils going to the victor *L*

I really need to go back and add all my historical notes to Wild Hunt. It's fun to explain everything, but it would be easier for me to do it only once.

I'm a generally unfuckwitted, moderate, not-too-generous, not-too-selfish, pathetically simple-minded, dribbling child!

You're right. I don't see it. Non numeric chapters are a pain for us to handle. As an uploader, I hate them. They require manual intervention and the uploading software balks, refusing to handle it. I had thought that you were one of the authors who we asked if we could put the Interlude at the end of the previous chapter or the beginning of the subsequent one. That would work best for us. I know that many authors find it annoying, but the software really does like numeric progessions.

Sorry about the problem. (Resubmit it on Wednedsay or so. That way, I can get Jondar to handle the linkage!)

Re:

*slightly surprised that you read this in the first place...*

I believe that when it was first put up it was sent back to me and I gave it a numeric number, and just labeled my chapters after that (so that chapter 9 according to the site, was actually chapter 10 etc).

Now I'm not sure what to do to resubmit, since going by that system, I already have a chapter 9 up there that would just be replaced instead of added in. Should I ask for it be inserted and all the numbers be bumped up (which I suspect would cause you a lot of work), or would you prefer for me to add the interlude onto the end of chapter 8 and just forget about having it separate?

Thanks,
Ariana

Feeling lazy on a Saturday morning and you were on a friends list of one of my friends, so... Don't feel monitored or anything!

This is what I think may have happened: you've been resubmitting things and I suspect that something got out of sequence. Someone may have seen a number inside your chapter and fixed the chapter number on the file. Our software creates a file name from the name of the fic and then plops the chapter number you specified at the end. The entire thing is easily overriden when things are downloaded. Now, I usually just move your stuff right over into the ready to upload folder so it would have taken an uploader probably to have overriden the file number. My guess is the disconnect between the chapter numbers might have been the problem, but I'm not sure.

I'd be happy to work with you on this to make sure everything's the way it should be.

Re:

You're lucky to have stopped by today when I'm rather coherent. I'm usually recruiting eViL minions...:)

I suspect you're right about what happened with the chapter numbers. I would like for the story to be set up with chapter 08 (8), chapter 09(interlude), chapter 10(9), etc. if at all possible. Resubmiting everything would be a pain, but I can do it (though it might mess with the chapter I submitted earlier today). Honestly, just let me know what you'd like me to do. I don't want to cause you too much trouble.

Cheers,
Ariana

Well... I recommend resubmitting nine and ten. Eight is ok? Can you sync your chapter numbers so subsequent uploads (should they occur) have chapters all the same throughout? The Interlude thingy has confused us loads of time.

Evil minions? Can we have a few?

I can. It sort of ruins an ongoing joke in the writing (Harry reads Chapter 9 of Gryffindor's diary within chapter 9) but I was probably the only one amused by it anyway. I'll just reorganize everything and resubmit from nine upwards (on wendsday). I'll take out those chapter titles that seem to be confusing everyone, and just call chapter 9 an interlude in the header.

I submitted chapter 11 earlier today. I'm not sure if I should ask you to put a hold on it, delete it for now, or what...

Much as I'd love to aid you, my eViL minions are occupied on a quest to fetch me the One Ring cheese atm. My eViL Head Librarian is paid in magnetic strips though, so if you offer her enough you might be able to lure her away. I'd have to destroy you then for stealing my workforce of course, but no hard feelings:)
