Out of curiousity, I counted up how many books from the BBC's 100 book list I've read and came out with 34. Terry Pratchett has served me well. Some of the books on there are pure travesty though... *goes back to reading obscure historical books*
Spent the day reading mysts and studying. I'm getting the urge to write some mysts of my own, but they really do take a bit of time and effort. I read the perfect story to tackle first though - Rurouni Inuyasha, with Kenshin as the reincarnation of Kikyou/Kagome and such priceless phrases as "He hadn't seen a body this thoroughly killed since the feudal era, when demons still walked the earth." *snickers* So tempting...
Have read through old exam papers to see what I'm up against. *cue despair* I hate enviormental archaeology. It makes no difference to me if elms were growing here 10,000 years ago, or if valley alluviation is the work of early farmers/hunter/gathers. I suppose I'm just not into prehistoric archaeology. I prefer to know a bit more about a people than "they lived here. they ate deer. they made white pottery with squiggly lines on it". I like to have some type of historical narrative to depend on, no matter how scanty... which is probably why, I, to the despair of my tutors will be going on into historical archaeology. Still, the megalithic phenomena is quite sexy...
