I am adoring Eyeshield21. It's very random and violent and funny, and has almost nothing whatsoever to do with (american) football. *L* Or as a review I found puts it - "Even if you don't like football, give this a chance any way. There's a lot of humor, random violence, strong characterization, and stupid visual gags." I have yet to figure out why one of the character's looks so much like a demon (see behind cut), but his antics are hilarious. It's series like these that remind me how much I love shonen manga.

Oh, yes. I also made icons. You can tell I have a favourite character... )

Other than that, we visited my Aunt yesterday for a very large, home cooked, home grown meal, which meant fantastic corn and tomatos and cucumbers, though my bro and I were surprised with a huge chocolate delight desert thing that pushed us over the edge of full to stuffed like a christmas turkey. This made up for the dismal meal later on at Steak and Shake (though the shakes there are always great) and we arrived at my eldest bro's house in Missouri. Have since been lounging, making icons, reading manga (have run out of printed material to read...), and drinking water since it's bloody hot out. Also went to visit where I digged last year to say hi to my old supervisor.

I should also mention that I read the last two volumes of Saiyuki yesterday. Good stuff. It felt fantastic to be reading a Saiyuki story I didn't know (since the second half of the anime is... different) and what gorgeous characterizations. Everyone was so very pissed off *L* Was spoilered ages ago for the other revelations in it, so will just have to wait for Saiyuki Reload (or, you know, find it and download it...)

Read the first book of Ultimate Spiderman which felt sort of like deja vu and sort of not. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if it was enough to get me to buy any more (especially since I got the book for free...). Evidently, becoming a superhero makes you snarky *L* and it's good to know that western comics can't draw people who look their age either.

Also read a free copy of Mad mag. and I have to say that my first opinion when I was ten that it was utter rubish is still true. The only thing good about it I can say is that they usually do very nice charicatures (sp?).
