A thumbnail sized spider just ran out from under my bed and tried to run under my laptop. It was pretty fast. I wonder if it's the same one I saw on the opposite wall earlier, or if there's more. (Years ago this would have phased me, but having spent the night in a room teeming with cockroaches - and by teeming, I mean they were crawling over my pillow along with everything else in the room - I can't work up too much excitement over a few spiders.) It had interesting markings - white stripes, which prompted me to do some research. One thing I've discovered is that spider bites were probably what caused some of the two rather random lesions/ulcers that I had as a kid. The symptom description is eerily similar to what happened to me and considering I had a habit of playing in the woods at the time...

This reminds me of the time I found a brown spider living in my brother's sink (there being two sinks in our bathroom, though my bro tends to borrow mine) and I left him there since I figured it was a good place to live and he could get fat eating bugs. You'd usually see him late at night. Anyway, about a month later my mum comes to me to tell me not to be alarmed but there's a huge spider in the bathroom, and i'm like, "in the sink, right? That's Jason." She stares at me in horror, even though I'd only named him a week before to amuse my brother. Anyway, she made me capture and release him since he was 2-3 inches long by then. I'm sure he was happier outside anyway. He's probably king of the spiders and ruling the world!

...

Or not.

My brother and I started watching a series which is definately on the crack - Yakitate Japan. If the fact that it was about bread wasn't enough, it's the way everyone keeps going into crazy cracktastic imagination sequences (especially when they eat bread... my bro and I suspect Azuma is adding crack to his Ja-pans). The series opens with a very serious voice over showing warriors of the past battling it out with, yes, bread. (Dwarf bread!) And it doesn't get much more serious from there, or rather it does, with strange parodies of all genres of anime and drama. Nor can you beat the crazy soundtack (the beat from We Will Rock You plays regularly in the background for some reason...). And the puns! So very bad. We can't decide if we've been scarred for life or are just terribly amused.

Other than that, spent most of the day filling in job applications. Two applications that were nearly identical due to using the same software. Stupid things. That being said, you can tell I'm an archaeologist by how exciting the idea of researching the history of road development in the NW seems to me... Have had good luck with Naruto fic today. Nothing good enough to rec, but found some people tackling themes I've wanted to read.

Have been drafted to take my bro and [livejournal.com profile] havenward's little bro up to Mitsuwa tomorrow. This is good since have been craving kitsune ramen (damn, Naruto...) and can pick up more of those Meiji Apollo strawberry chocolate things. Will also get melon bread since Yakitate Japan has me craving strange Japanese breads.

Forgot to mention that I got my x-rays back and nothing seems to be wrong with my foot. I figured the doctor wouldn't let me go back to Bujinkan until I healed, but hate being on the meds (they make me sleepy and weird even at half strength) so basically just declared today as the last day of rest and anti-inflamatories, and will go back to training tomorrow. What the doc doesn't know, she can't forbid. My foot is healing better. The pain if I press on the spot is nothing compared to before (though am on drugs atm so yeah).

Go to your iTunes/media player/WinAmp and put it all on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and after each one press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question.

Well, barring the out loud part, this looked like fun, though I would rather have done it with my iAudio. Did just rip a number of cds in prep for loading them on to the iAudio anyway though, so was interested to see what would come up.

Bujinkan tonight started off boring, but was made fun by virtue of a good partner, and decent moves. My foot definately starts aching when I train after awhile (I guess because we use all parts of our foot to grip the floor, and because we were doing foot work...) so have decided to keep up with the inflamatories, at least in the evenings, until the end of the week. When Jack showed up, he started describing doing this one take down as a 'hug', which sent the guys I was training with snickering. All men are really just thirteen...

Anyway, didn't get yelled at, and in fact got a lecture on how amazing it is when everything starts to click. Luckily, no one can tell you're blushing when you're flushed from training... Jack was in a good mood. You can tell cause he teaches really nasty moves, hence we learnt yet another way to break someone's neck. (It kinda surprised me to realize I know three or four of those off the top of my head...)

Mitsuwa was a bit of a disappointment due to lack of taiyaki *pout* but had good kitsune ramen, and melon cream bread (in honour of Yakitate Japan). They're renovating so they were out of a lot of things, or I had to buy lesser alternatives. Only new Pocky flavour was cheesecake, though have discovered the creamy goodness of strawberry Koala no maachi. God those are good. My bro and his friend were looking for the Naruto Gamecube battlearena game (was amused to hear the saleswoman ask another one what a gamecube was in Japanese when my bro made his request) but had no luck.

When it came to figurines I found their last Anbu!Kakashi figurine which was ridiculously complicated to put together (about ten interlocking pieces) for something only a few inches tall. I like it, though I do wish it were a bit bigger. My bro picked up a cool Hughes figurine. While in the supermarket, I took a gamble and bought an inuyasha figurine box. I figured the Sesshoumaru one would be the heaviest so I checked them all and chose that one (figuring that even if I didn't get Sesshoumaru, I'd at least not get Kikyou or Miroku whom I already have, since they're rather light). So, for five dollars, I lucked out and got a gorgeous Sesshoumaru figurine (the detail they put into it is really crazy).

Now off to read and make lj icons, I think.
