It has been pouring rain all day and it's nearing midnight and it still hasn't let up. Despite that, I had to go out to buy the food necessities (bread, yogurt, milk, lettuce, tomatos and bananas) and later I went to Shimonoseki for my first Japanese lesson. It was interesting to try to find the place since I walked all the way around it and my umbrella was falling apart in the wind (I broke two spokes). Once there, I expected to be tested for my level, but they took me at my word and stuck me right in one of the advanced beginners classes which was pretty much perfect. I don't have the exact same vocabulary as the rest of the class since I had different lessons and teachers, but I also have vocabulary they don't have so it all works out.

Did I mention I finally saw what a pencil board is used for? One of my students sticks her's under the page she's writing on so the pen/pencil doesn't go through to the page underneath.

Yesterday, I went to the huge Daiso (100 yen shop) in the next town over and it really was kinda weird to wander through a 3 story building where everything was 100 yen/a dollar. It's pretty cool what you can get for such a cheap price. I mostly bought necessities, but did indulge in some cheap ukiyou-e prints (100 yen for five of them!) which are now decorating my kitchen. Later in the evening, G. came over and we watched Ever After, tried out a random pasta sauce I picked up (every time she comes over, I try out a new sauce/rice mix that I've picked up and every time she goes home with the box so she can buy it herself *L*) and ate very good ice cream (dulce du leche!).

Life is pretty good, though I really wish I were writing Uric at more than a crawl. I think I've written half a page in three days. Meh.
