I just had an excellent night out. My day was kinda blah since I had lots of errands to run and packages to prepare. Only interesting thing I did was read Twisted Toyfare Theatre.
But in the evening was my farewell party for my favourite advanced class (that I lose because I'm taking the Yamaguchi uni class). We were supposed to go for shabu shabu, but it was closed so we headed for the Korean barbecue (yaki niku?) which was a really cool place. I love the way you get private little rooms and tables here. I just sort of sit back and let them order which was... interesting *L* We had lots of grilled meat, which I had forgotten the taste of, and a few veggies and salad. They sprung beef sashimi (ie, raw beef) on me which I was forced to eat while they took pictures *L* I liked the raw slices actually, but the minced beef (it looked like hamburger meat before it's cooked) with a raw egg mixed in it really wasn't my thing. Also ate the second stomach of a cow, and how many times can you say you did that in your life, hmm? Not the first, or the third, the second. Yep. Oh, and cow intestine too. Very very chewy.
The drinks were great. We started with the usual beer, then I moved on to a plum liquor with soda, only I tried one of the other guy's Korean sake and it was good (it looked like milk but tasted like sake mixed with something thick and sweet) so I ordered that afterwards. Yummy. They suggested karaoke afterwards which I happily agreed to (being drunk did have some role to play in this, but not much;)) so we headed over to Shidax where we got one of those private room things for an hour.
I swear that they must have sent a Japanese film crew to every American city to film karaoke things cause it kept playing random views of various cities. We did a huge variety of songs. The only Japanese song we did was the Eva. theme (I did better than I thought, but not by much *L*) then we did random English ones from Queen to Green Day to Cyndi Lauper. (My new drink, which was green of blue curaco, soda, something else and lots of slices of orange was also very good.) It's kinda brilliant how unselfconcious a guy can be here while singing out "Like a virgin" for instance *eg* I ended up singing Like a Virgin again? (What is with that song?) and we ended singing Green Day's Minority which was fun even if I suspect it was chosen so we could sing "fuck them all" really loudly *L* I had a great time. I'm sorry it ended and I'm going to miss that class a lot. *sigh*
