Last night I dreamed that I had to give away my paper puffer fish (fugu) from Shimonoseki and I was very sad.

This ties in with the fact that I was very weirded out to be reading a fanfic in the Avatar fandom where the author was taking random names of cities in Japan. The Fire Nation army conquered Shimonoseki, which happens to be the city I was in last night. *blinks*

Speaking of Japanese class, we learned plain form "yo form" last night (as in tabeyou!) which is always fun to say even if I think it sounds really slangy when you use 'yo' in conversation. At least I can recognize it now, even if I'm sure I'll flub it in actual conversation (like many things, it depends on whether or not the verb is group 1 or 2 to form it and while if I take a second, I can figure that out, I don't know instinctively and therefore it breaks up the flow of my conversation). Still, it was kinda entertaining to have everyone in the class chanting "kekkon wo shiyou!" (Let's get married!... or as I like to translate it "Marriage *jazz hands* aaahhh." Those of you who get that reference, give yourself a cookie.)

Our Thanksgiving meal on Sunday turned out excellent. B. was a wellspring of recipes and I mostly ended up helping her as she made the stuffing and pumpkin pie and sweet potato casserole. I made the candied carrots and the cinnamon apples and we had tons of other food, plus lots of desserts. The only thing missing was turkey, for which we substituted chicken. We were seriously stuffed by the end (and tired after cooking for 4+ hours). It was rather amusing to a) eat cranberry sauce with chopsticks (I only have so many forks...) b) have our J. friends asking us for a change what you eat with what ("The gravy goes on what?" *grin*)

I have to be really antisocial this week and study Japanese and maybe finish off my personal statement and send it off to Leeds. I've written a rough draft but it needs some serious editing and there's no guidance on the website regarding what they're really looking for. Anybody got any advice?

I love my new Avatar icon *L*
