It's really nice when your student not only feeds you lunch, but buys too much so you end up with dinner and lunch the next day as well.

Am skipping kickboxing tonight. I almost went, but I've been sniffling and randomly coughing up yellow phlegm all day and even though I feel well enough to go, I doubt it'll be good for me. Not to mention, they're all probably very busy preparing for the taikai (competition) tomorrow. They barely had time for me a week ago, so I can imagine they'd not have much for me to do the day before the competition.

Tarot quiz )

I have several things to do tonight such as finishing my masters app, writing my book and doing some other exercise to replace the lack of kickboxing. I'm actually not celebrating Thanksgiving until Sunday due to a tai chi competition I'm going to watch tomorrow, but on the plus side, my students last night suprised me by actually listing all the things they were thankful for when I explained thanksgiving to them (which was a bit of surprise since I'd only asked them to make words out of the phrase "happy thanksgiving").

One of my student's reads my livejournal *waves to her* and she told me that sometimes she thinks it's written in a language other than English *L* Fancy that, ne?

I am seriously trying to decide how to throttle ff.net and their now horribly intrusive ads. the ads that show up when you try to get to a profile page are annoying but bearable, but the ones that hijack the page and litterally won't allow you to get out of them unless you press the back button at the exact right moment? Those ones need to die. I've tried blocking them, but I'm obviously not doing it right. Anyone know the script or can point me to direction on how to modify Firefox so it blocks a specific site permanently?

I'm still reading HP fic atm, oddly enough. Other than that, I read Marvel's 1602 spinoffs, A New World and FF4. A New World was excellent while FF4 suffers from... well, it's hard to explain other than all the men in it besides Grimm as assholes. That and it feels like a story set in the 1860's being told in the 1600s.

Avatar 2:18 was brilliant and I'm not just saying that cause it had Zuko shirtless and drenching himself with water most of the time;)

I was wondering why Lighto's seiyuu on Death Note sounded familar so I looked it up and it turns out he played Tamaki on Ouran High Host Club. Talk about a jump...

So, on Sunday I woke up obscenely early and went with M. on a "make friends with foreigners" tour of Nagasaki. It was probably one of the more surreal days of my life, but I kinda expected that. When you only pay 3000 yen (about 27 dollars) for a trip that would cost you over a hundred dollars one way on your own... Anyway, we got there and it was basically six foreigners and twenty-five japanese people. I'd expected to be bused there and back and that we'd have a tour or something when we got there. What we actually got was one of those actual Japanese tour ladies compete with crazy flag and wacky traveling games.

I am a lj cut )

The trip home was long and involved everything I've mentioned before. I got tons of Japanese studying done, even if it eventually made my head ache. Right before the end, some of the kids gave me some very cute pictures drawn by them for us (meaning, the foreigners) and they're currently gracing my fridge. Owari.
