It's really nice when your student not only feeds you lunch, but buys too much so you end up with dinner and lunch the next day as well.

Am skipping kickboxing tonight. I almost went, but I've been sniffling and randomly coughing up yellow phlegm all day and even though I feel well enough to go, I doubt it'll be good for me. Not to mention, they're all probably very busy preparing for the taikai (competition) tomorrow. They barely had time for me a week ago, so I can imagine they'd not have much for me to do the day before the competition.

You are Strength

Courage, strength, fortitude. Power not arrested in the act of judgement, but passing on to further action, sometimes obstinacy.

This is a card of courage and energy. It represents both the Lion's hot, roaring energy, and the Maiden's steadfast will. The innocent Maiden is unafraid, undaunted, and indomitable. In some cards she opens the lion's mouth, in others she shuts it. Either way, she proves that inner strength is more powerful than raw physical strength. That forces can be controlled and used to score a victory is very close to the message of the Chariot, which might be why, in some decks, it is Justice that is card 8 instead of Strength. With strength you can control not only the situation, but yourself. It is a card about anger and impulse management, about creative answers, leadership and maintaining one's personal honor. It can also stand for a steadfast friend.

If that doesn't suit me, I don't know what does.

I have several things to do tonight such as finishing my masters app, writing my book and doing some other exercise to replace the lack of kickboxing. I'm actually not celebrating Thanksgiving until Sunday due to a tai chi competition I'm going to watch tomorrow, but on the plus side, my students last night suprised me by actually listing all the things they were thankful for when I explained thanksgiving to them (which was a bit of surprise since I'd only asked them to make words out of the phrase "happy thanksgiving").

One of my student's reads my livejournal *waves to her* and she told me that sometimes she thinks it's written in a language other than English *L* Fancy that, ne?

I am seriously trying to decide how to throttle ff.net and their now horribly intrusive ads. the ads that show up when you try to get to a profile page are annoying but bearable, but the ones that hijack the page and litterally won't allow you to get out of them unless you press the back button at the exact right moment? Those ones need to die. I've tried blocking them, but I'm obviously not doing it right. Anyone know the script or can point me to direction on how to modify Firefox so it blocks a specific site permanently?

I'm still reading HP fic atm, oddly enough. Other than that, I read Marvel's 1602 spinoffs, A New World and FF4. A New World was excellent while FF4 suffers from... well, it's hard to explain other than all the men in it besides Grimm as assholes. That and it feels like a story set in the 1860's being told in the 1600s.

Avatar 2:18 was brilliant and I'm not just saying that cause it had Zuko shirtless and drenching himself with water most of the time;)

I was wondering why Lighto's seiyuu on Death Note sounded familar so I looked it up and it turns out he played Tamaki on Ouran High Host Club. Talk about a jump...

ff.n has the Ad Blocker menu choice! I use Firefox and the fuirst thing I do when I go there is to hit Ad Blocker. It's part of the upper right scrolling menu.

Ah, thanks. Hopefully it will block this since it's not actually a banner ad. Still would like to block the site permanently though. It's a pain to go and enable things like that.

Those adds usually have a "skip this add" button that you click to get rid of them. I haven't had any trouble, but I use Explorer. Maybe Firefox is the problem.

Nagasaki sounds like it was a cool trip!

You might want to try the Firefox add-on NoScript. It blocks java scripts unless you say otherwise, and has a convenient button at the bottom of the screen so you can change you mind about sites so you can see videos or whatever. You can also accept a site temporarily. In the case of ff.net, the ads feed from another site, and you can accept ff.net and get a side ad, but block the annoying pop-ups.

I'm not quite sure what this thing is. I think it's a redirect that's built directly into ff.net's site and not a pop-up. I also prefer to keep javascript enabled and would prefer an option to just block that one particular site.

Other than english?

My god, L, out of all the journals on my friend's list, your's generally is the most grammatically correct, complete with good spelling!

If you want to see a trainwreck of a livejournal as per grammar, spelling, and overall control of the English language, [livejournal.com profile] renarhyku will make you feel good about your english. It takes me close to a half an hour to read some of his posts.... *shaking head*

Uh, sorry it wasn't clear up there, but she meant not English in that I use a lot of vocabulary she isn't familiar with along with rather advanced sentence construction. Add in internet specific slang and it's a wonder she keeps reading at all. My students get a pretty dumbed down version of my usual speech patterns, but I don't censor myself on my journal and hence can use my extensive vocabulary *g*

I also really liked the latest episode of Avatar (which iTunes is called 2.17, oddly enough), though the one twist was really, really obvious. But I am eager to see how it all pans out.
