My dad started having a major tooth ache on Tuesday which was extremely painful since he even resorted to aspirin (Dad is not one for painkillers) and he still wasn't even able to sleep on Weds. I called up the nearest dentist's office and got him an emergency appointment yesterday (after a lot of squabbling since Dad doesn't like visiting the dentist either). Turns out he needs to see a specialist on Saturday so he's making do with tylenol laced with codeine at this point and claims it's not working and he can't sleep but periodically falls asleep for a few hours, then wakes up to complain he can't sleep. I've told him off for not taking the pills when they say (which is why they're not working *rolls eyes*) and hopefully things will get better or at least the specialist will help him tomorrow. Until then, I'm the designated chauffeur and I went out and bought a lot of groceries including the makings of matzo ball soup and other soft things which should hopefully tide him over until he can get his teeth fixed since he can't chew things without pain. I made enough matzo ball soup last night to feed us for two days straight, and I have yogurt and bananas and canned yams if the soup gets too boring.

I want to see the Wolverine movie today, but I'm not sure if Dad is up to it. He might actually want to go since he always falls asleep in movie theatres and since he's complaining about not having enough sleep... Must definitely use my 40% off Borders coupon today at least. *holds out arms, staggers forward* Booooks. Boooookss.

My account on dreamwidth is here btw. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it at this point so I'm just friending people I know and leaving it be until I figure it out. If I've missed you, feel free to friend me there and I'll friend back. I also have five three invite codes if anyone needs one. *shrugs*

I really liked the Wolverine movie. I love that they managed to make a coherent, mostly true to the comics origin story for just about everybody who appeared. There are so many versions of everything for most of these characters that it was nice to see it all boiled down to something simple that made sense and worked. Also, I think streamlining Wolverine's past actually helps his character since the more you try to elaborate, say, what he was doing during the 1920s, the more you end up warping his character (most of the time). I loved that Hugh Jackman didn't seem to wear a shirt for half the movie. I loved that there was lots of mayhem and that the first half of it felt like watching a Highlander flashback *L* I loved seeing a lot of mutants you only see in flashbacks or as villains or victims in their early years.

Things I didn't like: Some of the dialogue was awfully cliché, especially Sabertooth's, and Spoilers )
