I've been organizing my cds today, and considering I have a rather large amount of anime stored on them in various places, it's been taking awhile. Also went to see Japanese Story which was pretty and lyrical, but depressed me.

Does anyone know how to say 'Damn' or the nearest equivalent in Spanish? (for the Hornblower parody... for that matter, what's the name of the Spanish commander person?)

On yet another Hornblower note, I was thinking of Style's rather abrupt change of character to extreme!surlyseaman(TM) and I pictured Invader Zim showing up on the boat and yelling, "Have you the brain worms?!" at him.

The Spanish Commander is Colonel Fransisco Manuel Ortega, from the Spanish Royal Engineers, but his wife is unfortunate to not be named.

according to Bablefish its maldición, however I actually can't remember whether or not I knew in my Spanish class. According to freetranslation.com its maldito. systranlinks.com agrees with babblefish on maldición, as does worldlingo.com. However I can say that maldición is a noun, whereas maldito is a verb, so I would guess that just the statement would be the noun...

I found a fun translator site though. Found something that makes you sound like Remy: Cova' Ariana wid blue frostin'....

Somehow that's doesn't sound like something someone would say in place of "Damn!" or "Shit!" though... That's why I didn't head off to the online dictionaries in the first place.

You had to put in that sentence, didn't you?:P

That's true, about the dictionaries I mean. Shit is something else which, if I remember correctly, sounds a good deal like merde. However, I don't remember the curses I learned on the side, so I only did what I could. :Þ

Of course. I'd actually put in something else just for my own amusement, but when I saw the accent......

Shit is 'mierda' in Spanish, I think. You might want to double check that to make sure I haven't confused it with the Italian (which I think is 'merda'), though.
