deralte: (Sharpe... funny insult (by me))

I forgot to describe the dream this morning. It was basically the Napoleonic wars, set in Middle Earth. I got Sharpe's pov for the whole dream, which was interesting. We were running some mission on the edge of a river, but things went to hell. My group ended up getting "detained" by the enemy commander (who by this point wore a modern military uniform since my brain replaced all the older ones the more I woke up. Go figure...). I was rather pissed by the whole thing, since we were being delayed to allow their men to slaughter our larger force, but things went wrong.

A few of the "chosen men" escaped, and then the army's advance scouts/rescuers arrived - the elves. Specifically Elrond's sons whom Sharpe had the magical ability to tell apart, though all he really cared about was that they were taking out the generators on the other side of the river and keeping an eye on Perkins for him (I got Perkins pov for a short time too and he was very happy to be rescued by such cool guys *L*). Things were going to hell, and the enemy commander made to leave, but then I pulled out my gun and blew a hole in his chest at very close range while grinning happily. This sickened me, the dreamer, just slightly, but Sharpe was having fun. (It just goes to show that if I say that my dreams have contained tons of violence, my dreams will go off and try to prove me right.) So the commander dropped dead and Sharpe was looking forward to a night drinking with the elves when I woke up. Weird dream.

Sounds like a great dream! I sometimes get fantasy and military history all messed up in my dreams as well.

We're not the only ones, a game called "Flintloque" was published a few years back. Napoleonic miniatures except the French were elves and the Brits orcs: Yes, there was a "Sharke" figure produced in honor of Sharpe.

It's actually a pretty rare thing to cross over history and fantasy for me, so I was rather surprised, though pleased at the results.

Flintloque sounds hilarious:)

Awwww, Perkins!

I had a dream the other night that started out as a perfectly normal no pants dream, in which I was wandering around a luxury hotel with no pants on, then I ran into a friend, who I started kissing, then a messenger showed up to call him back to his regiment (the 95th, as it happens) because the Chinese had allied with the French. Then we went back out into the hotel hallways and there were all kinds of Napoleonic-era soldiers wandering around, including a bunch of Chinese guys in sort of Mao-meets-Napoleon uniforms. Quite odd. No Perkins, though, I'm afraid, but Edrington made a brief appearance IIRC.

I was recently thinking that there wasn't enough Perkins in fic and, well, everywhere, so I think that's why he got included:) I believe in my dream there were some familar Naval officers working on the boats in the river as well...;)

I always find it disconcerting, since I always get the pov of my favourite characters, who are always male. I woke up so confused the one day I dreamt from Kenshin's pov!

It was so in character for Sharpe to shoot this guy in my dream, though I doubt Sharpe actually carries a modern gun with a silencer... *is ashamed her dream was historically inaccurate*

The other day, when I was working way too hard on my angsty Bush fic, I dreamed as Bush. Except that it was Bush's mind in my body, in the dream. So I dreamed I was at boarding school, and there was some guy sneaking in and stealing stuff from peoples' rooms while they slept, and then I (being driven by Bush's brain) got up and followed the guy and then beat about seventeen different types of shit out of him and worked out a whole heap of built up frustration and anger that Bush had.

Which, well, it was odd. Because *I* wouldn't do that. I don't usually have those sorts of dreams. It was Bush's dream, sort of.

I think it was our discussion of your dream that brought on the high level of violence in my own last night. Not that I haven't had plenty of violent dreams before - the one where I beheaded someone (dreaming as myself) always remains in my memory - but usually what I do during the day has something to do with what I dream at night.

*points and laughs* Your Sharpe-character is bad-ass :D

Now, why do I never have such fan-tastic dreams with the likes of Sharpe and Elrond? You have me jealous. Very, very jealous.

My dreams usually aren't such rampant crossovers, though they do generally focus on what I'm obssessed with at the time. Do you know how many dreams i've had where i'm an Admiral or a Captain in the 1800s?!
