It's only taken me a little over three years of Uni to finally manage to write an essay without staying up until god forsaken hours (like dawn...). I was finished only a half hour after my usual bed time last night, and while I don't think it's my best essay ever, this is a good thing since I now have a doctor's appointment and lectures to attend which are being done on a close to normal amount of sleep.

My goal for the weekend is to work on my dissertation, read Going Postal, work on NaNo, read the Angel Sanctuary mangas, and world domination. We'll see how many I actually get done.

My bet is on the world domination, for what it's worth.

I can't believe you actually have time to work on NaNo! Go you. Even if I did have time, I also have the worst writer's block I've ever had. Woe.

See, when I'm actually writing seriously it takes me about an hour to write a page of text regardless of what I'm writing. But the whole point of NaNo is to just get words down, so I'm forcing myself to ignore how much my fingers itch to go back and fix everything, and just write. It's basically a first draft by someone who doesn't write first drafts. Luckily for me, I already have an original fantasy trilogy plotted out in my head, and while it's still changing as I write, it's pretty easy to follow that general plot. As for finding the time, I'm literally leaving the word doc open continuously and I click on it occasionally a write a paragraph or two before going back to what I was doing.

That's really very impressive. I've never managed and essay that didn't involve staying up until dawn the night before, and I don't see being at uni changing any of that for me right now!

I still can't believe I finished my dissertation without even one all-nighter. (two late nights, but no all nighters) Huzzah for both of us. =)

I would demand that you see me this weekend except that I want to support your plans for reading Going Postal and achieving world domination, not necessarily in that order. *gryn*

I'm free during the day sunday, but in the evening the anime soc is going bowling. Actually, you (and Chris) are invited to come along if you'd like (we're walking there around 6pm), I'd just need to know so I could email the organziers that you're coming (and it'd be 4 pounds).

And if you want to know how pathetic I am. I handed in my essay, attended my lecture, then spent an hour working on my dissertation in the library. When did I ever get so studious?

Tempting, but we'll be heading into Edinburgh that morning for church and then coming back to Falkirk by way of Ikea, and I don't think we'll want to head into the city twice in one day. Oh well! Some other time we'll snag you (and perhaps [livejournal.com profile] fyrie) and go bowling on our own. *gryn* (it's fun to watch Chris bowl, he takes it so seriously!)

As for when you got so studious, you're a research junkie. Enough said. =)

If you go to Barnes & Noble's University website, Terry Pratchet is doing one of those online reading groups like the Chuck Palahniuk one I'm in now. They're really a lot of fun and they're free. I recommend it.

I'm not sure if I have the time for it at this point, though I will look:)

Me neither. It doesn't take a lot of time, though. The most time consuming part is reading the book. You just get to post messages and questions, and Terry will respond. :)
