I'm going to be in London on Friday and Sat. Would anyone like to get together for lunch or dinner on those days? I promise I'm not a homicidal axe murderer, and I chew with my mouth closed *g*

I made potato pancakes this evening, and they turned out surprisingly good. Less so was the apple sauce. Dear Tesco, Apple sauce is supposed to be sauce, not jam. Ick. Yours gastronomically, Ariana.

After the advice of my friendslist, I ended up taking all the advice into account, then going online to search through mp3 player reviews until my eyes crossed. I also went and talked to a salesperson somewhere to get their expert opinion, which was mostly, "Don't buy an ipod. They suck." since apparently they're the ones that get sent back the most with problems. I have eventually settled on this though half of me is expecting my father to tell me to pull the other one... It's very shiny though...

*pokes* Saturday might be good -- I have a ticket to go see a performance of Gabriel Faure's Requiem at St Martin-in-the-Fields, but I'd be interested in either lunch or dinner on that day. ^_^

Lunch is better for me. I'm going to the matinee for Les Mis. in the afternoon, and will probably be heading back north after that. You get to pick the place since I know nothing about good places to eat in London *g* Anywhere where you can explain to me how to get there from the nearest tube station (or just meet me) works fine:)

*dances* Well, let's see. I live on the Jubilee line, so I usually tell people to meet me at Westminster. If you like Italian, there's a good place off of Piccadilly, near Green Park (also on the Jubilee line, but the station layout is a little strange and it might be a good day for a walk, anyway). Depends on your price range, really.

On second thought, just e-mail me at gramarye at postmaster.co.uk, and we can take our culinary discussions off LJ. ^_^

My guess is that they're the ones getting sent back the most because they're the ones getting sold the most. I know a couple of people who have them who have no problems, but I often wonder (I don't really know) how they are at handling different forms of sound files. The things you buy off iTunes aren't really mp3s - they're another file type, but can be easily converted (though I'm not sure that's really legal). anyway, the people I know listen to both iTunes files and mp3s on their iPods, and it works swell.

She sales lady said the same thing (about it perhaps being cause they sell more of them), but when a salesperson also says she'd rather buy a <cheap, nameless mp3 player> than an ipod, I tend to think something is wrong, especially when selling me an ipod is the more expensive option.

I'm quite happy with the model I found providing my father will actually buy it;)

Well, my father tells me he ordered it last night, so I shall have a report to make soon *g*

Seconding (or whatever) the don't-get-an-iPod speech. When I worked at CompUSA we stopped allowing people to return iPods, because so many came back defective that we were losing crazy amounts of money. It was ridiculous.

My father tells me he already ordered the one above, and I'm much more happy with it than I would be with an ipod (The iAudioX5L plays movies and you can listen to the radio!)
