So, I have graduated. Got hit on the head by John Knox's breeches and all that. Ceremony was long, but not as long as my high school graduation if I remember correctly. The graduate luncheon was tasty, with some fantastic deserts. Finally learnt that the cheesecake I've been eating all my life is actually New York cheesecake which is heavy and double everything. Like the light version a hell of a lot better, and Bailey's cheesecake is to die for. After ceremony was drinks at the arch. department, which was weird. Had the best wine I've had in a long time. It was French. Savory or something. My bro and I escaped back to my flat after that where I treated myself to a jasmine themed bath with jasmine bubble bath and massage bar from Lush. Smelled like jasmine the whole evening which was nice, but may have overdone the massage bit. Who knew you could injure yourself with a self massage? Suspect family may just be stressing me out a bit...

I wish I could have just crashed after the bath, but instead watched some Long Way Round with my bro (Ewan gets nekkid again in ep 4 btw, [livejournal.com profile] havenward *eg*), then went to meet up with the family again, by which point I was tired, cranky and entirely not in the mood to deal with them. We went to see Batman Begins, which was my idea in the first place, but one I wished I had skipped, despite it being a decent movie. Wanted to go to the pub, but they all closed and couldn't be bothered, so had rum and lilt at my parent's flat, then high tailed it home after (annoyingly) being walked halfway by father and brother. Was so annoyed with the world in general, would have pitied anyone who got in my way. Will now watch an ep of One Piece to regain my equillibrium, then go to sleep. Am still weirded out by the fact that Shanks is voiced by the same seiyuu as Hiko from Kenshin, and why in the world didn't I notice that Usopp has the same seiyuu as Inuyasha and Ranma?

Someone needs to take pity on me and get Captain Hampton out of my head. The song is seriously beginning to drive me insane, especially since I have no one to sing it with. Must be evil and show it to my bro it seems...

Congratulations! (Though... John Knox's breeches?)

Danke! (The tradition is that the hat we're hit by, which is at least as old as the university since it's been used since then, is made of John Knox's (or Buchannan's if you suscribe to the less popular theory) breeches.)

Danke!

Ah! Du hast mir auf Deutsch geantwortet! Na wunderbar! ;)

Truly, that must be a fine tradition. I can think of no prouder way to cap four years of degree work, than being hit with a hat made from the garments of a religious reformer.

If we ever meet up again I'll make you some cheesecake. Because apparently German cheesecake is the best, and the fact that I've found every type of cheesecake other than my own to suck supports that theory. Thus it is now my goal to introduce all my friends to German cheesecake and thus ruin every other type of cheesecake for them. :)

Congrats on graduation! :D

*laughes* An admirable goal, I suppose. I'll make a note to try German cheesecake whenever I get the chance:)

I think it's German cheesecake that my mum makes, and it is very yummy :)

I also like British cheesecakes, but they're very different and more obviously cakey. Mum's is a bit more like dessert-type pie and is baked in the oven.

Could be worse - at least John Knox wasn't still wearing them...

Dun dun dun dun dun-dun-dun dun. Dun-dun da dun-dun da dun dun dun.

I think I should be worried you have that line memorized now. You didn't happen to find a copy of the song, did you?

Haven't looked yet, but I did find a copy of the lyrics, which are different than the ones we know! Gasp! I now know what happens to Captain Hampton!
