Bujinkan tonight was a good work out since we were doing variations on ichimonji (first stance). I trained with one of the guys who respects me (after resisiting the urge to smack one of the others who refused to meet my eyes so he didn't have to train with me...) and we had a lot of fun. Jack was in a good mood which meant that a) he didn't beat up my little bro and b) he beat up me instead. I think he liked my flinch when he hit my wrist very hard with his knuckles, so he made sure to do it again, though since I knew it was coming, I didn't flinch. *thinks* And if that isn't proof that my sensei is a sadist, I don't know what is. Have a few bruises from that and other hits.
The weapon tonight was a gun - mostly how to keep it pointing away from you and out of the hands of your oponent. Jack made me demonstrate one of the take downs to the class (probably because I made it look both brutal, and easy), and it made me realize just how far I've come. Years ago, I'd have had to think to know which angle to hit the guy's knee to take him down, or consciously remember to grab my gun (stuck in the small of my back in this case), but tonight, that was all automatic. Not that everything is automatic now, but I'm at the point where I can play around and try different things and know most of those things will work. Living at home for several months has at least been good for my training...
I finished off the Dark Tournament in YYH yesterday. I really enjoyed it, but I'm rather sad now since I have nothing for my YYH fix. There's not even scanlations available online, though I suppose once in Japan I can try my hand at reading it on my own. I actually expected the ending to be a bit more drawn out so it was weirdly abrupt, but I guess they probably move right into the next arc. My only other note is that Genkai is a damn cool character and I sort of wish we could see more of her adventures. YYH actually has a lot of strong female characters for a shonen manga. I'd rank it just below One Piece in that regard.
I go into the city tomorrow to get my visa properly set up. *fingers crossed* Packing today was weird. I discovered I still had my notes from middle school. Middle school! A lot of useless things like that have now been thrown away, or offered to my little bro (he kept my C++ notes and my Japanese notes *L*). Dentist tomorrow as well, and if I can swing it, visiting
ozmaz again. Her son wants to fight me again *L*
