Read Busou Renkin, from the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, for the first time today. Wasn't too impressed. (I've only read the first chapter so I'm not bothering to spoiler cut.) It read like a cross between Bleach and FMA, with the main character played by a male Misao (from Kenshin). The art was excellent as usual with crisp lines and nice detail but the character designs were pretty plain all things considered. Suppose I'll read more someday, but it really doesn't make you want to. I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read Bleach and FMA first, or you know, really enjoyed what he did with Kenshin.

Naruto's latest chapters were rather lowkey, and I'm glad Kakashi wasn't saying anything important for two chapters because I was completely distracted by the fact that he was hiatate-less and sleeveless and reading a book (two of my favourite things) for the whole time. I also get the impression that Sai is a lot more amusing in the original Japanese. Oh, and Ino? Sasuke might not be gay *cough*, but Sai definately is.

Read the first couple of chapters of Bowling King. I understand the manga is from Taiwan but I noticed little difference between that and Japanese manga other than it was a bit more rude in places (what is with foreign manga and rudeness? I noticed the same thing with Threads of Time (which is Korean).) Pretty typical shonen manga - leecherous boy sees a girl he adores. Sets out to save her from the evil mafia guy by winning a bowling competition, only problem being it's his first time bowling. Problem being solved by him being a bowling prodigy and having a really strong left arm. Only really entertaining thing is the random costumes the main guy changes in to all the time, especially since the other characters break the 4th wall and comment on them.

Eyeshield21 continues to be its insane, crazy self. Makes me sorry I've been ignoring it for awhile, but it makes it more fun when I get to read a lot of chapters all in one go.

In other, non-manga news, the recaps of America's Next Top Model on TWOP are almost as addictive as the show itself. I am both ashamed and entertained.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found this distraction.

Also, re: Sai - Word.

I'm going to end up iconing the hell out of those chapters, I can tell *L*

I feel bad because I'm not interested in Sai at all. I just want them to hurry up with the current story line and give Kakashi and the other adults more page time.

Is anyone interested in Sai? Well, aside from Ino, who doesn't really count, being fictional and all. He bores me to tears.

I do miss the other adults, and I was very happy to see some of the other young ninja again here (Shikamaru!), even if it was only briefly. I'm glad we seem to be moving into another training sequence, since I generally like those.

Judging by the spate of icons I've seen of him, someone is (which is just crazy because of the two new characters that were introduced, Yamato is way more interesting).

It was nice to see Asuma again at least, and Shikamaru has grown into the cynical nearly adult we'll all love (I bought an action figure of him yesterday where they've perfectly captured his "this is both boring and troublesome" expression.) I'll be very surprised if Kakashi actually trains Naruto since he seems to be setting up his usual wind Naruto up with a bait and switch thing (the older Kakashi gets, the less subtle he is about his enjoyment of teasing excitable, dreamer type ninjas).

something mostly unrelated

Is what you're doing through the JET program or something else? I'm sure you've said a billion times, but after the past week, I'm thinking of doing it too. Blah.

Re: something mostly unrelated

I'm working for a small, private academy here. I set it up myself from their post on the internet. I'm friends with a bunch of JETS here and basically private academies or JET is the way to go. Whatever you do, don't go with those big corporations like NOVA or AEON. All the people from them I've met are miserable. My academy has openings in January and April/May if you're interested. If not, JET has a rather long and weird application process that includes an interview around Jan/Feb and would have you arriving near the end of summer (if they accept you, it's a hit or miss situation depending on who interviews you and stuff).

Email me if you want more info or just have questions:)

I'm starting to get really tired of this anime cliche. Having said that, there's always something there to keep people interested, I just wish they would try a different approach (e.g. crooked guy can't compete so has to cheat his whole way through, or argue down the armed agressors etc.)

Well, in Slam Dunk, the main guy really does suck quite badly and has to train and readjust his attitude before he can actually do any good out on the court. His only real advantage is his height.

Ahaha, Sai. *totally gay*

I found this journal while doing random friend-skipping. Love your icons, esp. Naruto. Mind if I friend you? Friend me too?

Friended and friended:) There's more Naruto icons (and others) on my website (http://www.arianaderalte.com) if you haven't found them yet.

I did see them, they're great!

::is sad that you don't like Sai:: I'm sure you'd make great icons of him. I actually think he's hilarious, so the more of him, the better.

I made one icon of him, but I prefer to give my obscure character love to Yamato atm (aw, who am I kidding, I'm just making icons from the Kakashi shirtless and hiatate less chapter;)). I tend to like my humour a bit more subtle, so Sai just doesn't do it for me. *shrugs*
