It's been a long day. JLPT's tend to do that to you. I woke up at 6:45 to catch the train to Fukuoka, which involved the shinkansen and two other train changes. I ran into lots of friendly foreigners on the way and while I was at the testing site. The test itself was okay, though there really are some strange gaps in my Japanese education. I thought the reading part was the easiest. It occured to me while doing the vocabulary section that I can't spell well in English, how am I supposed to do so in Japanese? *sigh* Once the torture was over (and it went both very fast and extremely slow, the extremely slow part being during when they took forever to hand out and collect each section of the test and explain the rules - again).

Afterwards, I headed back into Fukuoka and found Animate, the big anime store there. I'm seriously searching for the new ANBU Kakashi plushie but I had no luck finding it and therefore mostly picked up christmas presents for others, though I ended up buying myself a tree, though I have serious doubts about my ability to grow it. Chopper says I can though *L* Afterwards, I still had lots of time so I wandered through the department stores in the Tenjin area. My biggest find was a Wendy's where I happily paused to have a mini chocolate frosty thing. I ended up in this crazy department store which had things like a car dealership - on the 4th floor. There, I did more christmas shopping and ate ramen for dinner. I finally headed back to Hakata station and through some serious finagaling of schedules and a bit of luck, managed to make it home in record time around 11pm (and extremely cheaply).

I've been really stressed over this exam for the past couple of days even though I had no reason to be since it makes almost no difference in my life. I couldn't convince my body of this and I was having a lot of trouble sleeping and was getting stress headaches etc. I'll be glad to get some proper sleep tonight.

Speaking of the test not mattering, the good news is Leeds wrote me back to tell me I have a conditional offer of a place of studies (which is nice considering they haven't recieved my personal statement or official transcript. Not to mention it's only been a week since I applied). The bad news is it's for Japanese Business Studies, which wasn't what I applied for. Methinks it's a typo, but am too tired to be anything other than amused atm...

I didn't even realize it was already December until Rin mentioned her taking her test today, or that you were taking your test within hours of our conversation. I'm rather jealous of you going to a huge anime store... The closest I get right now is the special order from Japan of Gothic Lolita (which partially scares me, especially the H Naoto Spring Collection ads which looks like they made a teenaged Jack Sparrow out of glitter and random bits of clothing). Some of the clothes are really cool though... nice tshirts, and I never realized that you could actually wear sleeves that weren't connected to the rest of the shirt......

It would be really ironic if Leeds had mis-processed your application. Or if the business school was attempting to coopt you...

To be honest, the selection wasn't as extensive as I had hoped. There were only a few things for series I adore, while other series that I either enjoy but don't care to buy merchandise for (Bleach) or just am not interested in (Gundam Seed) had lots more available.

Regarding Japanese fashion, yeah. I see so many girls wearing stuff like that in the cities with their clunky boots and striped tights. It'd be funny if they didn't all start to look the same after awhile.

That's the sort of irony that leads to major headaches for Ariana, so let's pray it's not so.

Mmrph. 3-kyuu did not-at-all-good-things to my brain. Also, the testing room was freezing cold, which is never helpful when you have to sit still and write for extended periods of time.

Ah, well. If I really buckle down and revise this year, I'm sure I could do very well on 3-kyuu and I might try to set my sights on 2-kyuu. I think I'd have to take actual classes again if I really wanted to do well on 2-kyuu, though.

Did you take the same exact test? Cause what did you choose for the last question about the rain and the wind?

Yeah, I wasn't all that happy with the test. The holes in my education really showed and why did I go to all that effort to learn the kanji if they were going to give us furigana for every part of the test other than vocabulary? It was kinda annoying since I knew the kanji, but knowing how to spell it was a different matter. Of course, it's my fault for not studying properly, but still.
