According to my friends list, the best thing about the new Doctor is that I'm younger than the actor;) Personally, I'm rather surprised how unattractive he is, and hoping that he can act and gets decent scripts.
Since I'm awaiting the opening of the universities again on Monday before I make some pissed off/polite phone calls, I figured I'd give an update on my life. New Years was spent at
rinchan's with
havenward (and Rin, of course). We had an excellent meal at Red Robin, hit up the store for tons of snacks, then schleped on back to Rin's flat. Since I'd already succeeded in introducing havenward to Kuroshitsuji (since she'd spent the two nights before at my house and what would Christmas/New Years be like if I didn't introduce someone to a new obsession?) we ended up watching a mishmash of stuff from Leverage to Yakitate!Japan (ah, crack). Once we were drunk enough, we put on Twilight which was, as expected, extremely awful. We had a lot of fun mocking it, but ran out of steam about half way through. We then quieted down and spent time on our respective laptops until 5am when we went to sleep until noon then went back to our laptops for several hours. It was probably our most sedate new years yet, and a sign that we're getting old and we're all going to DIE!! *ahem* *g* Rin-chan gave me a lovely PVC statue of Zoro in his Skypeia outfit. It is gorgeous. *huggles it*
We finished the first ten episodes of Supernatural S4 and I quite enjoyed them especially the fight between theJets angels and the Sharks demons. I totally don't buy Dean being in Hell for 40 years though. 30 years of torture and 10 years of torturing someone would effect someone, no matter how tough, a lot more than a few measly nightmares and flashbacks to bloody eyes. If this was their intention all along, it's been very poorly set up. Also, the boys seem to be ruining themselves for normal girls. Sam bags a demon and Dean bags an angel? They'll have to work hard to top that *L*
Dad and I started watching Burn Notice which is cute and funny. The main actor is one I took an instant disliking to on sight (pretty rare for me) but I gave him a chance and he does a good job in the roll. The set ups can be a bit boring, but I love seeing Bruce Campbell again and the intricate plots and hilarious 'spy' advice voice overs are the win. Also, his fighting style is close enough to mine that we'd have a good fight and then I'd kick his arse;)
I keep forgetting to mention it, but I totally recommend Bloody Jack by A. L. Meyer. I had though it would be a book about a girl cross dressing and becoming a pirate and actually it was about her joining the royal navy which was slightly disappointing but there's a sequel so here's hoping;) The voice of the book was excellent and the story kept up its pacing until the very end. I'm interested to see what happens in the next book.
