I've been breaking in a pair of boots for my dig this summer. They're high quality ones with reinforced toes so I don't drop my trowel and slice off bits of my foot (always a good thing to plan for). Unfortunately, they're really stiff to wear, especially when going up and down stairs so my feet are aching horribly. I can't wait until I can go back to wearing sandals.
1 1/2 more days until my first exam. I've been studying dutifully, if not enthusiatically. Either way, I'll be done with Archaeology 2 by the end of the week.
I've been making a list of dvds I want for my birthday. Predicatably, anime rules the day, though there are some very hard to get Japanese imports on the list and a few movies whose original language is English (just for variety).
In order to keep myself entertained, I've been searching ff.net for good Kenshin and Inuyasha fics (not necessaily reading them...just looking). There's a sort of art to finding good stories on ff.net, since there's no advantage of having a forum where you can ask for the 'classics' or specific topics. First you have to find a good or relatively decent story, then you check that person's favourite stories and authors. Stories with lots of reviews are only more worthy than those that aren't if they don't have romance as a category, if they do, forget it since the people who review those will read anything. If you're lucky, you'll eventually stumble upon the fandom greats - those who are on everyone's friends lists, and the stories you want - those that are only on a few specialized favourite stories lists. I was lucky enough to stumble on a good one of those for bakumatsu kenshin fics, but I'm still in search of a few good, non-romance Sesshoumaru stories...
