Lecture today was probably the most boring of the year, especially the seminar. Seminar topic was Depictions of Foreigners in Egyptian paintings, particularly Theban tombs which is actually an interesting topic which was handled in the most boring manner possible.
I amused myself by imagining I was at a seminar on "Depiction of Foreigners in Theban Band paintings". Are the representations of races such as elves and hobbits the result of artists actual viewing of said races, or a product of secondary accounts? What does the frequent depiction of male beauty and pairs of men in what some scholars propose to be suggestive positions tell us about relations in the Theban time period? Could these be the foreign princes that are mentioned in the Fanficna letters? How did the exchange of foreign princes in marriage help ancient trade relations between states?
I'm unofficially trying out NaNo this month, which basically involves me keeping a word document open all the time and writing a paragraph whenever I can. 621 words so far *L* Story is based on an old fantasy novel I once plotted out in detail, but only wrote half of, and the half that I wrote was done before I actually knew how to write decently. So, I'm trying again. If I get enough done, I might actually let people read it. Who knows.
