1)Total number of books owned?
400-500? Something like that. Most are fantasy/scifi plus manga, with a large number of history/archaeology and reference books mixed in.
2) The last book I bought?
The Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake
3) The last book I read?
Bill the Galactic Hero by Harry Harrison
4) 5 books that mean a lot to me:
American Gods by Neil Gaiman - I never seem to tire of rereading this book.
Dune by Frank Herbert - Picked because while I disliked it the first time I read it (when I was 11), it was really one of those books that doesn't make sense or have the same impact until your an adult. Never mind that the rest of the series is rubbish.
The Riddle Master of Hed by Patricia McKillip - Something of an odd choice I suppose. I read this book (it's really a trilogy) when it was out of print (it has since come back in print), and I absolutely adored it. Reading it again when I was older, it wasn't as engrossing, yet it still has elements that are rarely used in fantasy anymore. It has the best riddle game you'll ever read and I'm including Sandman in that judgement.
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel by Susanna Clarke - I fell in love with this book, and it's one that I still treasure the memory of reading.
Candide by Voltaire - Snarky, nasty humour, laced with jokes it takes a historian to understand. What more could you ask for?
Runners up: Sir Apropos of Nothing by Peter David, Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, anything by Terry Pratchet but most particularly, The Fifth Elephant, A Pebble in the Sky by Issac Asimov, A Horse and his Boy by C. S. Lewis, Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling, the 4th volume of Sandman, Blade of the Immortal, etc.
5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out on their ljs: I refuse:P
